Aqui
The link sends me to an empty page. Just checked - it does the same for me as well now I'll have to see if I can work why. EDIT: Just been to the site's main page. That won't show in browser either Perhaps the site is having problems. If I can get the link to work again then I'll repost it. Edit 2: Seems to be working again... Just in case it goes again, this is the Youtube link: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/306774-reusing-plastic-bags-to-make-plasticard/#findComment-4022229 Share on other sites
ShinyRhino
Can you paint HDPE plastic and not have the paint eternally flake off? Normal plasticard is polystyrene, not HDPE. Heating polystyrene is supposed to be very bad for you. Perhaps it's better to find other alternatives after all... JeffJedi
I wouldn't expect flat plastic sheets when doing that. I know that plastic bags like that burn very easily. It's true that sprue can be melted, but it's more like a floppy noodle, it would never turn liquid and be able to be poured again. It also burns easily. All you can really do is draw out a section into a thin line. If you want to be able to pour them resin is the way to go and far safer. Canadian_F_H
Sprue plastic isn't a heated into a liquid when they make the sprue. It's a type of injection molding done by forcing plastic pellets in a ram. Is pretty much how 99.9% of all plastic stuff is made. Ironwulf
Might be interesting to try for an experiment, but if I want uniform thickness plastic, I am more likely to just use some plasticard of the desired thickness. I might be tempted to do something like that if I were trying to do larger vacuform projects though… Emperor knows, I certainly have a never-ending supply of plastic bags from the grocery store… Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/306774-reusing-plastic-bags-to-make-plasticard/#findComment-4022470 Share on other sites
Jacinda
That's interesting. The texture it gives would actually be a good thing when making terrain. I'm not sure how practical it would be, tho. It seems like the energy costs to run the iron and oven would be cut into the reuse/recycle benefits.
