Dreadnought Talons and Drop Pod Assault

If I have multiple dreadnoughts purchased as a single talon, and place them all in drop pods, how is this treated for Drop Pod Assault?

Assuming they're the only drop pods in my list, do all dreadnoughts come down in the first turn, place within 6" and roll for scatter?

Well, that's a problem. Dreadnought Drop Pods are Dedicated Transports, and as such don't have their own slot on the FoC. This means they can only be taken by the rules of a unit that has them as a DT, and Dread Talons may only take a Dreadnought Drop Pod if they number a single Dreadnought.

EDIT: ...unless the Orbital Assault RoW is taken. (thanks for the reminder, Kriky)

What if the Orbital Assault RoW is used? Would the talon arrive separately or together?

Duhr! So used to the XVIIIth's RoW, I forget about the general RoWs. Yes, Orbittal Assault would get past the Talon's 'single dreadnought' drop pod restriction, as it applies to the individual Dreads, not the Talon.

"When first deployed on the battlefield (either at the start of the game or when arriving via Reserves later on), the Dreadnoughts must be placed within 6" of each other, but otherwise operate independently, and are not treated as a vehicle squadron"

This is what mention is made in the Dreadnought Talons rules. There's no mention of what's meant to happen if you can't deploy them together, such as if models fail reserves rolls etc.

This is one of the things that we houserule, reading the mention regarding reserves that they are treated as a single unit when deciding for Drop Pod Assault. This is a double edged sword, as it means that it's only a single unit for DPA, but that the entire unit arrives 1st turn/on the same successful reserve roll.

As far as I know, the option to take a Drop Pod only is there if the Talon numbers only 1 Dreadnought. At least in Crusade Army list "A Dreadnought Talon numbering a single Dreadnought can take a Legion Dreadnought Drop Pod as a Dedicated Transport".

Solves the problem :p
