Yet more toys? (That can hurl stuff!)

In case you haven't seen the rumour thread, it looks like this is definitely happening for Knights, including pics (in thread) of a White Dwarf cover for Knights, Objective Cards, and a little snippet of rules:

Starting about here:

Have you "Knighted Up" your Grey Knights? Will this cause you to do so? Or are you skipping this all together?

Now I'm sad... I thought they would at least try and bring the Knights into line with the Eldar Wraithknights by giving them S:D ranged options but that obviously was a false hope. I'm always for more variety so all the new weapons options are of course great but seeing your Knight getting absolutely demolished by a 100 points cheaper WK just seems so wrong.

Cant Hurl Gargantuans!

I'm still looking forward to it. smile.png

I'm too. I like the additional heavy flamer on the gatling and the ability to swap the stubber for a melter. I would have prefered some parts to modify the chassis and maybe reposition the legs but the Knights are still very cool. If I'm beeing a negative Nancy it's because out local game group has an abundance of Eldar players who all salivate over the new Codex so in my mind I always compare and mathhammer everything in comparisson to the Eldar lists I will be facing tongue.png

I'm glad to see we're all up on our 'hurling' rules. lol

That is so cool and funny. It's the first time I've been remotely interested in buying a knight. Rip open a transport, the guys fall out then you hurl the wreckage at them. Forge me that narrative!

Going at I 1 I dunno how useful this is, but I'd field it against one of the local nid players just for the look on his face when my knight throws his hierodants at the rest of his army

If you mean Hierodules those are gargantuans and cannot be hurled.

Yeah I can't remember the name of all them bugs, but fair enough. I'll hurl his carnifex at his Hierodules. See how he likes that

Yo dawg, can you hurl them Dreadknights at tha Wraightknights? tongue.png

Haha... oh man I ran out of likes for the day or you'd be getting all of them. I just laughed at that mental image of Dreadknights standing erect, pointing their Force Swords into the sky as the Knights pick them up like arrows and hurl them like javelins right through the heart of the Wraithknights.... very funny.

Wow, it just occurred to me there are far too many "Knights" in this conversation

I'm not sure what Imperial Knights add to GK to be honest.

In CC they aren't much different to a Dreadknight, and aren't any quicker to get around.

The guns, aside from the Thermal cannon that provides a strong anti tank/TEQ, aren't really complimentary to GK as we don't struggle to clear hordes and mobs thanks to our multiple str6/7 templates.

In my shooting focused Ultra army, my Knight errant functions as a strong cc support element as my army advances - usually I send him off to chase units around the mid point of the game.

I will say however, that the new Knight with the giant Fist looks brilliant!

Getting back to this... what I'm thinking is the Knight takes the place of using a Dreadknight in that role. I mean looking at LVO wasn't a very successful army of GK using 2 knights, and 2 NDKs? (or was it 3?) in 1850?

Also it looks like the old Knights can be modded to include melta on the shoulder? And the new Knight is capable of anti-air in the back of his head thingy... So there's that multi-role function that would certainly be helpful (has interceptor) against Eldar, Crimson Death squads, Eldar Bikes, Necron Arks..... I think it's actually quite usable!

Ack. I just don't know which army to do it for. I can't buy 3-4 of them like you can. ;)

Keen for the Warden. We desperately need AA support, and it's main gun is also very handy (S6 AP3 with lots of shots). Have to see how much it costs though.

With the Avenger Gatling bolter, the reaper chainsword and the flak-cannon think Knight Paladin plus naked Rhino. In fact the Warden comes with the Avenger Gatling bolter and the chainsword stock and the flak is exactly worth one Rhino. Only 2 shots S7 AP4 twin-linked though so not very useful against armoured flyers but it's something I guess.
