Yet more toys? (That can hurl stuff!)

I'm partial to the dual-ranged one(crusader?). Gatling cannon(which also has a heavy flamer), Battle cannon(with stubber), extra stubber, and perhaps the anti-air cannon.

You lose the D in melee, but I think stomp, a heavy flamer, lots of overwatch, and 4 S10 AP2 attacks work just fine to deter people from charging in.

Keen for the Warden. We desperately need AA support, and it's main gun is also very handy (S6 AP3 with lots of shots). Have to see how much it costs though.

With the Avenger Gatling bolter, the reaper chainsword and the flak-cannon think Knight Paladin plus naked Rhino. In fact the Warden comes with the Avenger Gatling bolter and the chainsword stock and the flak is exactly worth one Rhino. Only 2 shots S7 AP4 twin-linked though so not very useful against armoured flyers but it's something I guess.

Hitting on a re-rollable 3+ against standard flyer armour of 12 gives you a 89% chance of 2 hits with a 33% chance of each of those being a glance or pen, probably enough of a threat to force them to take declare they're going to jink and negate any shooting from them next turn other than snap shots.

Might not kill them but sure as hell makes them redundant that turn.

I think the 3-shot krak launcher looks better than the Icarus IMO. More of a threat to Flyers, as I believe it's AA as well?

But yeah, for a fire support platform, they both look hella sweet. We need more firepower on a durable platform, and we have melee to protect it from enemy melee units trying to rek it.

Looking at the rules on page 1 of this thread it doesn't appear to have Skyfire.

I'm still up in the air about which of my marines are getting this Knight. So far I'm leaning away from the GK's getting it.

I guess I'm just finding I seem to have the most success from GK with bodies of certain types.... and the more I dilute that, it seems to take away from my typical playstyle with this army in particular.

The Ultra's (even over the Dark Angels) seem to benefit because it 1) suits the playstyle more for me and 2) the Ultra's are usually a little more body heavy and this would probably just replace 1.5 to 2 of my elite type choices for them. The entire GK army -feels- like elites.

I think these Knight variants plug huge holes in our firepower and engagment options, whilst still being deadly in melee and mobile (both key because we don't have the resources to defend shooty units from enemy melee). I'd say vanilla Marines benefit from them too, but Centurions and the expanded vehicle roster mean they're not as necessary.

My grey Knights playing buddy likes them as well   I  dont like thier look plus I  cant really justify why they would be working with my Wolves , Its easier to do with knights because well in the space wolf codex theres a thing in the timeline where Krom gets a knight oathsworn to him so I sorta just use that as my jumping point for the 4 knights I own   ( KNIGHT NUMBER 5 HYPE )

It really makes you  wonder tho how many more codexes can they squeeze out  of  the imperials ?

Yeah they could do Imperial Codices till the Universe goes cold but I think they are trying to go the same route with the bigger Xenos races. We got 'Codex Astartes: Blood Angels', 'Codex Eldar: Harlequin', 'Codex Eldar: Craftworlds' and now 'Codex Adeptus Mechanicus: Skitarii' and 'Codex Adeptus Mechanicus: Cult Mechanicus'. I think the idea is to establish different factions (mostly races) with different sub-codices. Dark Eldar will probably become 'Codex Eldar: Commoragh' or something.

I'm also super curious if they will redo all codices in the near future to get them to the Eldar/Necron level. Both Codices are super fluffy and have a better internal balance than anything I have seen in a looong time from GW. Sure GKs just got their codex in august but it really feels like all codices should get the Eldar/Necron treatment so if they go for more Imperial faction codices those should be proper 7th edition reworks.

The big test will be the Marine update. If they're not able to stand up to xenos effectively, then there is little hope our update shall (whenever that may be).

For now, I think we're meant to plug into other 'big boy' factions like Marines, Imperial Guard etc. Same for Skitarii, or Inquisition etc. We're Ally factions, not real armies in our own right.

Guys, Pick up the new White Dwarf before it's sold out. (the assassin one sold out in my country.)

This week's features the Knights of course (obvious is obvious...) but inside are nearly complete rules for the Warden Knight. I will be ordering one of these....

Points are in there for the base Warden, plus upgrades. Mine will ring in at about... 425. But you can go vanilla for about 50 points less. The gauntlet is a must for me, the hurl is too darn cool.

I will scream, "FOR TITAN" every time I pick up a landraider and hurt it at a dreadnought at St7 (no AP). lol

Other weapon options of note are mostly on the shoulder harness as we've seen from the leaks, but I just thought I'd mention I really don't think this white dwarf is going to hang around long. I waited too long to pick up the Assassin one and can't get a physical copy now.

Does it also have the rules that say you can take them in a GK army? Because those are also pretty important ones.

Actually I didn't read that specifically because to be honest, why wouldn't you be able to? I mean.. even Chaos can take them currently right? And GW wants to sell this kit in a big way.

I guess if I were 'stuck' on this I'd throw it in my marine army but I guess it is something to be certain of for some people. I just honestly can't see it not working as an ally... ?

I have the whitedwarf. It says paladins and errants can take the shoulder mounts as well. The I knight allies is unknown if they will become regular allies or remain the 1-3 knight special detach. They mainly just hit on options some of the new data cards, the warden, described the gallant (melee) and crusader (dakka). Also mentioned new formations and relics will be in codex

I'd probably go with a paladin but with that gorgeous 3 shot missile pod. That'll help cover a lot of our bases, long range firepower. In particular.

Paladin can take it in the new Dex. So can errants. Admantine lance with extra firepower anyone? I'm curious if gerantius can take it too. Hmmm

I wouldn't bother with the adamantium Lance personally, I'm playing Grey Knights, not Knight-Titans. But I do want to see how I can model the rocket pods to be in the shoulders or more concealed in some way. I really don't like it sticking out like that, just ruins the silhouette.

If you were feeling adventurous, you could cut the missile launcher in half and integrate one part into each shoulder a la Warlord Titans shoulder weapons but inset into the Carapace.

That's what I'm thinking of doing, but I reckon i'm going to need a fair bit of green stuff or something really solid to ensure they stay.

You could cut the thing down to basically just the front of the missile launcher and shave it down to the curvature of the Shoulder plate and just glue it on.
