Cult Mechanicus as soon as next week?

Recommended Posts

I doubt we'll see the codex, but it does look like the Cult Mech release is next.  Rumors have at least 3 dual-kit boxes, the codex, and the HQ clampack.  Thats at least two weeks of stuff, maybe three.

*Edit* Codex will probably be week 2

I wish they would just release the main Codex. I understand they don't want to dump everything at once, but stringing releases along and over multiple books is a cheap cash grab. If people stop falling into the trap perhaps they wont do it anymore lol.

Looking forward to the new releases, but still wishing they would be 'robots' and more like the servitors and constructs that have been known and written about for years.

Quick question, are you a week ahead with your White Dwarf issues? The 'Next Issue' is numbered 67 and dated 9/5/15 on the photo you put up. The Most recent White Dwarf I'm aware of is Issue 65 which is the Assassins one and was released the Saturday just gone (25/4/15). That would therefore suggest that your issue is Issue 66 dated 2/5/15 which is due for release this coming weekend.

If that is the case, you are probably quite right. New Imperial Knights are on pre-order this Saturday to be released on the 9th and so the AdMech full Codex could very well be after that (just under two weeks away from today).

However, a more important question is if I'm right, and you are a White Dwarf ahead, what do the new Imperial Knights look like and how much do they cost? As I'm sure they will be in issue 66 as it should have been released when they go on pre-order this Saturday.

*Hopefully my train of thought made sense there*

124€ for the new Knight box and 33€ for the Knight book, which has 120 pages including 5 Formations. I've read the WD already.

The week after the Knights we will have the first Cult release, rumoured to be the same size as Skitarii. Once again this probably means overcosted boxes and no reliable means of getting around, ultimately invalidating the book in today's Meta.

But that is just me trying not to give in to hope of having a competitive AdMech book. Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment.

Massive thread with pics of the Knights in the rumours section brother smile.png

Like Charlo said - the WD is indeed the one from the coming weekend with all the Knights goodness in it. Just head into the rumour section and the "Rumours: AM - Cult Mechanicus & Knights (Knight WD) " thread. Page 21 begins the good stuff ;)

I guess I don't see where you are coming from. The Rangers/Vanguards were very reasonably costed and everything else was also appropriatly priced except for imo the Dragoon/Ballistrarii. I dunno if you have already watched some competitive batreps but from the ones I have seen even with their limited units and options Skitarii already fare quite well.

Cheers for that Charlo!!

And thanks for confirming Aethernitas! I did not realise that had been leaked already.

Where have all these pictures come from by the way? I can't find that WD anywhere in the UK yet

You can thank Chapterhouse for this - GW can't release books without the models being available at the same time anymore, because they'll lose the IP.

Basically, the "cheap cash grab" was made by Chapterhouse rather than GW and now we have to pay the price.

It looks like a mix from german and UK sources having early access to the upcoming WD. Most definitly store owners. I dunno any more details happy.png

I suppose this sentiment mainly comes from Skitarii being an unconventional army. Same will go for AdMech. We are all used to the usual CAD setup. This is something new. This will all end up in one book eventually. Right now they are forced to do modular releases due to Chapterhouse and others trying to steal the market with rip-offs.

But, having said all that, I love Knights. I will have three (including one FW Knight) when they get released. And I will build Skitarii and AdMech as Knight House retinue. Not AdMech, but a real knightly noble army with hunters and stormtroopers. Skitarii and AdMech lend themselves very well to that concept and I will definitely try and pioneer the competitive setting with this army, if I can, hopefully taking them to the biggest German GT and Veteran's 2016.

My negative bickering is just to voice a few concerns and a word of caution to not let the hype run rampant.

I really don't get the chapter house thing as I went on the site and it all seemed really, well like a lot of nothing...? A few pads, a single terminator upgrade chest and some heads?

Depends on when you went to the site.  They had to take a lot of it down during the legal battle, and Im not sure theyve recovered.  They had a lot of upgrade kits and addon packs that were clearly for GW models.  Most famous being the storm raven extension pack (it made it a little longer).

I don't blame Chapterhouse for anything.  If GW creates rules without models, someone will make models to fill the rules.  It's a small step from creating models to selling models.  GW can always come along afterwards and release the "real version", which instantly trumps the third party.

Look at the DreamForge Leviathan and the Imperial Knight.  A lot of players use the Leviathan for cost and/or aesthetics reasons, but it's far from being the definitive Knight model.  Is the Leviathan cutting into the Knight's market share?  Without a doubt, to a certain extent.  Is the Knight in danger because of it?  Not at all.  In fact, I'd risk saying that many people that buy the Leviathan wouldn't buy a Knight to begin with due to cost and/or aesthetics.

Rather, the new release schedules are a result of GW's move towards continous improvement.  Rather than releasing/updating Factions in huge blocks, it's a gradual change.  This works very well in the Internet age of instant gratification, whereas the old monolithic release schedule worked very well for the age of mail order.

Personally, I find this easier on both my sanity and my wallet as I can expand my armies at a reasonable pace instead of being buried in work followed by years of waiting for the next lump iteration.  It also holds my attention better - the past two months have been constant excitement, moving from Harlequins to Skitarii to the Assassins to the Knights to AdMech proper.  This is the most excitement I've had for the hobby since the Knights were first released over a year ago.

Of all the rumours I have read, no mention of anything like a tank or transport. Just infantry, more infantry and monstrous creatures. Not very AdMech-y if you ask me. Sure, they do Cybernetics, but I have a hard to believing that they actually walk to a fight when they have the best transports available to the Imperium (short of the LR due to the decree of Big E during the Crusade).

Well, so far the rumors have been all about the shiny new weird units.  I don't think anyone's going to salivate over getting to take Rhinos, so if possible it won't come over the wire right away.

You have to remember GWs policy on Imperial factions. We are all BB, so it might very well be the case that the entire AdMech is devoid of transports because we can ally them in anyway. Not a fan of that to be fair. AdMech armies will become a massive cluster:cuss that way.
