Atia
Yeah, Codex: Chaos Daemons enter Age of Darkness in Massacre with the Word Bearers. This is just continuing that theme. yep, and FW has already said that Tempest and the next book will feature more Daemons :P *wuhu* Well for me the first thing is the RG contemptor, the thing is so uninspired in so many different ways. Giant Bird skull in place of aquila? Check. Bird trophies/ dangly bits because the word 'raven' has to be milked? Check. The only "inspired" part is ironically the worst; the Polynesian swirly bits that aren't seen on any other RG model. I know a lot of people dislike the tyranid one for looking too top heavy and having "platform shoes". I'm also personally not a fan of the carmine dragon's pose All subjective of course well, i like all of the above :P for me, the Iron Warrior range is (sadly) far more unlikeable :/ (Contemptor and chest plates ...) but well, it's personal taste :> Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/306951-samus-is-here/page/3/#findComment-4028942 Share on other sites
Kol Saresk
I can't wait to see more daemons. Personally, I look forward to how wonky FW can make them look. These are beings made of nightmares. Who cares if they symmetrical anatomy? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/306951-samus-is-here/page/3/#findComment-4028964 Share on other sites
Raktra
I do love me some asymmetrical death monsters. Just look at the fiddler crab. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/306951-samus-is-here/page/3/#findComment-4028977 Share on other sites
Hesh Kadesh
i love Samus, and tbh, the paint-job isn't that bad either. also, from where does this "Trish bashing" come from? honestly, i haven't seen a "bad" model from her yet (and btw, as far as i know, she works on a big nurgle thing atm) subjectiveness ensues. http://www.solegends.com/marauder/newimages/c9423marmb14atreeman-01.jpg Really? Noctus Cornix
And that's what it comes down to, personal taste. I think the model could be stunning with just a slight alteration of pose (again, hairdryer), and painted in a luminescent blue-grey, like an internal glow in the muscles of his skin showing through. I'd also take the risk, and give his flesh a coat of Wet Effects at the end, to make him look oddly slimy, and disgusting. The remnants of his warp-birth, perhaps. Don't only look to the models' inadequacy, when it's salvation requires such minimal effort to correct. Admit it. Some of y'all who dislike this model, are also staring at it, thinking on how to make it better. Some of you will even follow through, I bet. Give it a chance, is all I'm saying. Let's see what happens when someone on the board here picks one up and gets inspired, and blows all of our minds. If even those abominable 40k Cen.... cen.... *coughs up blood*.... Centurions... can be made salvageable in the hands of a creative modeler, then I think this sucker has potential as well. Frankly, this is exactly what I think When I first saw the somewhat blurry picks of the WIP model, It didn't quite catch my eye as something super unique and totally badass. However, but I was stoked regardless. Now that the model is up for Preorder and I look at the painted version, I realize the one thing that really kills the entire thing for me. They painted the nose black. It's such a simple thing, and I'm certain it was intentional to add to the canine look, but frankly such a giant snout, especially in contrast to the deep red skin tone, really just does not do much more than make it look... Goofy. That being said, however, looking at finished pictures of the model unpainted, I am absolutely in love. Not entirely because of the final product (though I do think it looks great), but because of what I envision in my head of what I can do with it. I love Forge World, and I adore their gorgeous unique character models. But there isn't a single one that I've obtained so far that I haven't done some changes to. Some of them, I've done only a few tweaks and tiny additions. Others, I've completely ripped apart and changed the dynamic and look of the model into what I want. Samus, whenever I have the privilege to get my slimy hands on him, will be among the latter category. Look Out. Samus is here.......
