Well this lord of war while pricey will put my army over the top I feel for murdering the new wraithknights and good ol' Imperial Knights. I'll be using my CTA ally Vindicare assassin to murder some poor seargeant, perfect deep strike this guy turn 2 (make sure for rerolls), then have belakor cast invisiblity on him. I'll proxy him later tonight and field him.

Issues with good old Samus;

-Only a MC, so prepare to get kited around the board by things that are faster then you

-What murders a Wraithknight? not much- it will do damage if you can get in close enough, but this guy can still be removed by a roll of a 6 on a Destroyer weapon

-I agree that a poor sergeant being murdered would give an optimal ability to have his guy come in, but that starts to add up (vindicar is both expensive to field and a liability in terms of creating a 6 inch bubble where you don't want your primary army being anywhere near him)

-I don't know if its wise to cast any blessings when using this guy; if i read the rule right invisibility now requires a warp charge of 3 to get off. Thats a spicy meatball.

------On that note- Be'lakor is already 350pts and this guy is 375. Do you really want 725 of your army to be just 2 models?

-Strength 7 (8 on the charge) still isn't what i would like to use against a lot of other MC or a knight titan. lets say i charge a knight. I have 6 attacks, hitting on a 3= 4 hits. Now i need to glance or pen the front (13-8=5) so a 1/3 chance to wound the damn thing. Im doing 1- maybe 2 hull points to it before it swings back and stomps back.

I appreciate some long-needed appreciation to daemons, but at the same time i just don't see this as being the equalizer

Both Belakor and Samus weapons have armorbane. With Belakor I often pop a knight each combat but sometimes he only does 3 HP if I roll terrible with his mastercraft weapon. I also always 6 dice invisibility because it is important, needing 3 warp charges just makes it even harder for eldar to deny. Because deny they do.

Perils is fine unless you roll that dreaded 1 then fail your ld test but thats alot of fail (has happened to me and I just auto concede then play another game) there is also a chance you will roll a 6 and power up which has allowed my Daemon Heralds to solo knights before (my area plays alot of knights)

RNG be RNG and thats chaos

Samus is terrible in anything but HH, and even then he is circumstantial.

I wouldn't go so far as to say it is terrible- just not a good choice. If you run khorne then go for it for fluffy reasons. Just don't expect it to do great

Also- sorry i missed the armor bane bit earlier. I still stick by what i said tho- its just not a great choice. Its ok just not great. The best thing is probably the ability to reduce enemy leadership by half- but against most armies/units it doesn't do much (fearless or ATSKNF)

Well did a couple of games and the whisper of madness ability was kind of interesting on both games. It kept my eldar opponents flyer from coming on until turn 4. It hindered his ability to buff and also my own when I failed invis with 6 dice still (lol?) but did not perils. After that I mostly just summoned with my flying lash prince to try to buff up some warp charges. Something cool did happen though later in one game Samus was locked in combat with an avatar who charged with a full squad of banshees. Samus had quickly murdered the avatar but still had banshees left to kill on my turn so I said what the hell. Flew my lash prince over, cast cacophonic choir from excess discipline on them (their ld got gimped when they lost fearless from the avatar death) which wiped the rest of the unit so Samus could charge something else. Too bad I can't do that with psychic scream.

Oh well guess you guys were right. Without being able to reliably give him invisibilty or shrouding I think he would take too many shots on the turn he deepstrikes in. Maybe grimoire him but I don't know how amazing a 3++ would be... 2++ from cursed earth?

You're getting there, but then that leaves the rest of your army on the sideline kinda just hoping not to die. Plus Cursed earth within the range isn't really trustworthy (unless a flyer EXACTLY 13 inches away and "runs" into the 12 inch bubble with Samus).

I saw what they were trying to do here- and i appreciate it- but something if fundamentally flawed with the points cost of Samus.

But i realized today ever since the buff to eldar i've kinda had a sour taste in my mouth for Warhammer 40k. I was in the process of buying a whole new 1.5 army of Tzeentch stuff (daemons and CSM) but after the eldar book dropped i stopped completely because it feels like "why bother?"

That's funny because I was also preparing a tzeentch army after having read thousand sons, prospero burns, both ahriman books recently, and getting hyped about the probably false rumor of a tzeentch daemonkin codex.

While my 10k Nurgle army screams hatred at me I have the FFG black crusade books and feel some tzeentch ones in the collection could make for some fun storylines (we act the story out with our minis like uber nerds)

not to get too far off topic; Tzeentch is really interesting but nurgle, currently, is far more competitive.

Tzeentch has a lot of utility to bring to the table but thats about it. Buffs and witch fires. Throw some buffs on Samus, burn some lighter enemies with tzeentch spells, and hope for the best (HA! related it back to the topic at hand)

Yeah I have 12k points of nurgle though, so I am diversifying for painting contest purposes.

Decided to hold off on Tzeentch force until maybe a codex drops for them. Instead I am going to build a force for daemonkin using my 200 neutral painted cultists, 20 flesh hounds, a juggerlord, and the new bloodthirster model.

The part that is annoying to me cost wise is having to buy more (expensive :( booo) bikers for the gorepack formation. I annoying when you already have 14 nurgle bikers and I would feel bad about proxying them.

I have seen the rules. Be'Lakor is still the better option and Samus is way way subpar from what I expected from a FW, Chaos Daemons, release. I am disappointed, a lot.

Still, the model is nice, though I cannot but feel that it is just a Beastmen Ecatombe laying low...
