Quick rules questions regarding flamers

Recommended Posts

Not sure if this is in the right section, but as I was playing my sisters at the time, this seems fitting.

Ok so the game was Eldar vs Sisters, and I had lots of flamers.

The terrain we were using included parts of the old warhammer castle.

So we said that the wall sections of the castle were 1 story up and the battlements of the towers were 2 stories.

There was a Farseer and Dark Reaper squad on top of the wall section, and Banshee squad in base contact behind the wall.

My sisters made it to the base of the wall on the front side and opened fire.

I am targeting the Farseer and Dark Reapers but my flamers are long enough to cover the Banshee squad as well.

Would the Banshees be hit given the different levels of elevation for the units?

I would say yes because promethium is napalm in this case, which is a sticky burning fluid that is sprayed into the template area, it would fall down on models below...

However, gw doesn't do sensible things like gravity and pinning tests from mortars anymore... So idk.

Is that right? Yet another one of those rule changes that I seem to have missed! Anyone have a page reference for me? I just know my regular Eldar/Tau opponents will want me to prove it to them in our next game :P
You'll have to ask them to show you the part in the rulebook that says it DOESN'T affect all levels. It was there in the last edition but was removed in 7th. Currently the only rule regarding templates is that anything under the marker is hit. Is a model under the marker? It is hit.

Alright, but what if it's a tall multi-story structure and the model in question is above the marker placed in contact with the firing weapon? Is it still hit?

That is a really good point Eddie. I was on break from the hobby for part of 5th and all of 6th. But before if I couldn't physically touch both the shooting model and the target model with the template I couldn't hit them.

But this makes using flamers in confinded spaces very dangerous... as they should be.
