Iron warriors upgrade kit, a letdown?

Not a fan of the rotated belts, your model looks good Dantioch but the way the belt is rotated the torso is kind of meant to be turned to the right.

Not sure why they couldn't just have centered the belt buckle like on all other models.

And to me the star plate looks a bit like a bib.

I'll pass on these and the Contemptor, now I just hope Perturabo end up better.

GW already made the best IW torso possible. Honestly, it would've been pretty hard to top this design...

I'll chock this up to FW giving the ol' college try on differentiation between IW and IH, visually. Give 'em credit for the attempt, at least.

Now i want to buy a set lol...well done ;-)

Would it surprise you if I was a sleeper agent planted by FW to promote the IW stuff haha tongue.png

I didn't even notice I had messed that up, damn laugh.png

Yeah, I don't understand why they changed the belt buckle after all the upgrade sets they have released .

Don't know if I have done it any justice but here is the torso painted

*snip*

'Tis a valiant effort, brother, but it's no good, that marine would have looked better with a DG torso (no offence).

None taken man, I still prefer the DG torsos too I've used them on half my tac squad biggrin.png

An idea I had for altering the torsos to get away from the 'bib' aesthetic & for those who aren't a fan of the new star symbol was shaving off the star & using plasticard cut at an angle to create a partial gorget, like this:

It's not rotated. Most military uniform regulations have the edge of the belt buckle line up with the zipper or fly on the pants so it's offset to their left a bit, but it makes a solid line all the way down.

And now I want to play iron warriors.... Great. I'm trying to not read any black library books about other legions because then I'll want to play that legion.

Brother dantioch It looks way better painted but it still plaes to DG/IH or the GW upgrade set.

Yeah BCK, I can't imagine Astartes being concerned about their 'gig line.' Although that's the only explanation that makes any kind of sense.

The thing is, I don't imagine power armor needs a belt in the traditional sense. I feel like any time the word belt is used in BL books, that it's kind of a misnomer. Their power armored trousers aren't belted to their waist, you know what I mean? I've always imagined it as more of a seal/fastener to the armor, if indeed the armor had a 'belt' at all.

My only issue with this awesome IW chest piece is that it's too squat... and they're all made of metal so it would be an enormous PITA to try to fix it.

I agree, LongGone, it is odd.

Aye, this is what I meant,

it's probably more of a seal between the torso armour and groinplate hence why I don't think it would be able to be offset.

I have a bunch of these and they're awesome.

Clip the horns of the helmets and they work too, might just have to steal a few earpieces from normal MK VII helmets to cover the cuts though.

You folks. Always need the pretty, shiny, new stuff, when there are dozens of old OOP models, begging for a heresy upgrade.....

I don't need what I already have ready access to. Awesome Iron Warrior parts are everywhere.

You sir, are going to be my inspiration if and when I decide to start an Iron Warriors force. Your attitude towards converting and the results you get are an example many can learn from. :D

Awesome Iron Warrior parts are everywhere.

Of course they are: isn't the IVth the legion most spread across the galaxy, where standard parts are not always commonplace, and on operations where additional front armour is always necessary? In a way, I see the Iron Warriors as the earliest owners of "Mark V": reinforced, bastardised armour, probably able to withstand bolt fire even decades before brother turned against brother.

I suddenly feel a mighty need to put my Skitarii aside for a time and get loads of various astartes to convert an accurate representation of the Great Crusade.

Hells yes. I went crazy with mine, and the Astartes that wears it spent a little too much time alongside cousins of the VIII Legion.... :P

Terror mask for the win.
