DarkAngeal
For names I tend to turn to classical demonology. Sammael, azmodai, belial and Azrael are all names of demons. Personally for you, I like "Eligos". But you might want to pick one based on their personality. Here's a link to a list; http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_theological_demons Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/307067-tcoths-angels-bikes-26032016/#findComment-4029193 Share on other sites
Ania Redfang
Thanks for the info, I like Eligos. Update, half of first vow green and bone finished. http://i.imgur.com/O0QBaN5.jpg Just need to tidy up the lines in some places. Captain Semper
This is by far the most demanding paint scheme for DA successors. Ania Redfang
Thank you everyone for the comments. I come bearing news and updates. Thanks in part to my immensely busy and stressful exams that are just around the corner, I've managed to get quite a lot done. Here's the assembled troops defending their line, supported by experienced marines from the 2nd company, and powerful Librarian Mehuman. In ETL news, I'm roughly half way to finishing the first vow. Here's one bike squad racing forward. Two Razorbacks and a whirlwind for support, including the command squad razorback. realised that the drivers of the razorback and whirlwind gunner aren't done, they'll be finished shortly. Finally, the trusty Aegis Defense line and mighty Mortis Dreadnought. As you may see I've also decided on a basing scheme, grey ash wastes to compliment their robes and contrast with the bright greens and bone. Nest up, six more bikes, two attack bikes and a Darkshroud to complete ETL vow 1. Then Devastators and characters, and finally the other 4 deathwing knights and a squad of black knights. I've also has the idea of utilising our lore and bringing in a "great beast of Caliban" to counts as something, maybe a dreadnought... I was thinking maybe the Griffon model or Mountain Chimera, suitably "unforgivened" up with a rider and weapons... thoughts? I know that Caliban is sort of not there anymore, but it's a cool idea in my mind and would make for a great centrepiece. If not I'll probably just get a contemptor at some point. Thanks for looking. Ania Redfang
Update: ETL vow finished. :) Just a couple of pictures to show off. Everything so far, terrible picture but you get the idea. The vow. My Darkshroud which I am particularly proud of. All awful pictures I'm afraid, using a Nexus 4 camera phone... Thanks for looking. vampyrerodent
Very nice! My 4th Company would be proud to serve next these worthy souls.....except that Cypher character. Still need a ground idea? I always go Scorched Brown (Dryad Bark) as a base, followed by a heavy dry brush of Mournfang, then a light Ushtabi Bone dry brush. Makes for a good dirty ground look. Ania Redfang
Hey all, back with some updates. I've set myself the rather ambitious task of consolidating and repainting all my space marines into one army, and I've chosen the Angels of Redemption for that. I've worked out that if I repaint my Raven Guard tacticals, Space Wolves assault marines and Red Scorpions, I can pretty much field a company, which is nice. I also have a demi-company of Ravenwing and Deathwing to do, most of which is either black or painted black. Big project, long time scale, big fun. Anyway, to update I've painted A Dark Talon, a squad of Deathwing Knights and also My Sevrin Loth figure. Started rebasing my marines as well, they look good on 32mm. Enjoy, and wish me luck. Big box o' Ravenwing Big box o' Deathwing Sevrin Loth Rebased tacticals. Ania Redfang
Not much of an update yet, but I rebased all of my marines now, got the whole company ready to go, plus made up some Grav-cannon devastators from bits and pieces. I think they came out ok, if not exactly the same as the real thing. Thanks 117 space marines. Ania Redfang
Update time! I went on a bit of a kit bash frenzy and have made a "counts as" contemptor with two assault cannons. Going for a sort of meld between marine and beast, like the spirit of Old Caliban is bursting out. It's WIP, anyone have any thoughts? Tygwyn
Busier than I'd normally go for - enough feathers to be a flying contemptor! But, if you do go for it we can guarantee one thing: it will look awesome when painted! Father Mehman
A good use for a War Sphinx! It does look like a beast and Dreadnought had a baby and, since that's what you were going for, you've achieved greatness. If it's painted correctly, I think this would be amazing, as Tygwyn said. Maybe make it look like the legs are a facade or heavily weather the Contemptor to show its age, or, you know, do both. If you do decide to scrap it, for the love of everything holy to our Primogenitor, keep the torso and head! Ania Redfang
A few new things. I have a new way of doing green, and I've painted some devastators, assault marines, and a grav command squad. Busy times. Still have markings, bases and transfers to do, but I'm putting them off until the whole battle company is done. Best TCOTH C+C welcome. Ania Redfang
Hellooo, it has been a long time since I've done any work on my D-Angels, blame life, work, and The World Eaters... However now I'm making progress, and I'm nine marines and basing away from finishing a Battle Company. I'll put together a photo or two of that when I've finished the basing and done the transfers. Speaking of transfers, how long have these cool DA transfer sheets been a thing? Got them in Deathwing and Ravenwing boxes. They're pretty cool, a nice number of transfers. In other news, I'm jumping on the heresy train with Dark Angels, and am just waiting on my BaC box to arrive. in preparation I have the aforementioned Deathwing and Ravenwing boxes to customise the marines, as well as a few Upgrade kits, some volkite and DA heads from FW, and then a despoiler squad and jetbike squad to round it out. I'm really looking forward to this, first project from scratch in a while, and I'm going to be taking my time with it. :) Hope to finish my company this week, just need A LOT more astrogranite... Ania Redfang
That is one nice lookin' box of goodies! Santa must have been good to you! Looking forward to some progress pics. Not santa, these goodies came from hard sacrifice to the ebay gods of my fantasy armies... a high price but worth it I think. I've set up a production line to get transfers and company markings done on the 60 odd marines that I've painted recently. Also a nice feeling is the final nine marines with only base coats on in the box. Getting there, a small number of marines fully done out of this batch. RayJ
Let me know how your experience with the transfers goes. I'm going to use them for the first time ever on my Ravenwing to help with the squad markings. Ania Redfang
Let me know how your experience with the transfers goes. I'm going to use them for the first time ever on my Ravenwing to help with the squad markings. Man O man these new transfers are so much better than the old ones. Thicker, more matt, cut closer and more sharply detailed. I use micro-set and micro-sol for transfers, but I'm not at all sure that I needed to with the new ones, they've gone on so smoothly and flat, curving really well as well. They're almost too sharp, they look a little bit unrealistic on the surface of the model... really top notch compared to the old ones. Ania Redfang
So my Betrayal at Calth came in and I got straight into it, building my Praetor, representing chapter master Astelan (notable member of the Fallen), albeit before he was sent back to Caliban. I've decided to base my force around Astelan's squads, such as there is background on them. I'm currently using a grav pistol as a volkite serpenta, as I don't have any of the real thing and it looks suitably different from a plasma pistol or bolt pistol. If there are any other easy to get hold of options I'd love to know them. Thoughts? The Calth models are lovely, and I am really looking forward to getting them built up. Ania Redfang
A couple more models built up from BaC. I'm trying to not have any "stock" models in this force, or it'll look too similar to all the other BaC armies out there. So here's a terminator sergeant (I have no use for a terminator HQ so the captain became a sergeant) and a standard legion terminator with power sword and volkite charger. Thoughts?
