OrangeBob
Hey guys. Is there a way to remove/dissolve/scrape decals off? I used Micro Sol/Set when I originally added them but am now fixing some rookie mistakes I made on my White Scars and want the decals gone. Carlson793
Off top of my head, I'd say handle removing in reverse order of how you applied (if the hope is to spare the base coat underneath). Remove top coat with the gentlest paint remover you have access to Some Micro (Sol? Set? The second step one - I get them confused unless I have the bottle in hand.) to loosen the decal Gentle toothbrush to remove decal while still soft/wet Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/307080-removing-decals/#findComment-4029612 Share on other sites
ShinyRhino
First question to ask is: did you spray sealant over them when you were done? If so, you're boned. Paint over them and start again. If not, use the Micro Sol to soak them and then gently pick away the pieces. OrangeBob
Good to know Micro Sol works in reverse. I will give it a go. Thanks. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/307080-removing-decals/#findComment-4030023 Share on other sites
Laborious
Microsol does work in reverse, but it depends a lot on how many layers of microset you applied to it. Removed some transfers the other week from space marine shoulder pads and because of the curved surface they'd had a lot of passes with the microset to get them to sit smoothly. Was a real pain in the bottom getting them off again without damaging the paint underneath. In the end I gave up up on the second half of the squad and just painted over them and applied the new decals over the top. Saved a lot of time and to be honest the scars left by repairing chips in the layers is probably going to be more obvious than a painted over decal. So, my advice is give it a try - If they come off easily great; but if you find you're really struggling to dislodge them I'd suggest aborting the procedure before you damage the paintwork underneath. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/307080-removing-decals/#findComment-4030089 Share on other sites
