Deredeo vs venator vs fire raptor....

Recommended Posts

Hey guys and girls, looking for a bit of advice on the above.

As some of you may know, I am looking to build a WE army up for a tourney in August. The main bulk if my list is sorted, 2 x Spartans loaded with despoilers and Phobos loaded with butchers.

Trouble is the support, I am considering all the above but only have enough space for one...

The sicaran is in at the mo. It has 2 ordenece shots which should be brutal for vehicles also forcing it to fire snap shots next turn if it takes a pen and can cause concussion so good for sniping primarchs. It is though, totally one dimensional. Also can damage itself through feedback.

The dread has sunder which sounds ace, more shots (however lower strength and ap) as well as multiple target options though would need to shave some points elsewhere for the carapce mounted launcher

I would happily take a fire raptor although I don't like the idea of waiting for it to come in

Does anyone have any gaming experience with any of them?

At 2250, I woukd think I woukd be up against some super heavies but never played 30k and gave no idea what armies to expect at this tourney

I think I want an anti vehicle however maybe something with more strings to its bow woukd be better?

I have never played against any of these units but i have seen them on the field, and the Venator and Fire Raptor both wreck face, especially the FR. The Deredeo is nice but i wont have one until I can get it with other units to buff there Invul saves, but that is just me.

In your shoes I would go Fire Raptor at its damage is insane!

I'm going to playtest one next week to see how it holds up, if you manage 3 ordinance shots and take something out, it should make its points back, it you can spare some bodies to shield it, and give it a potential cover save, or whack it behind some scenery all the better.

It's a not like the normal vindi, position it right and it can cause some serious damage. Problem with the normal one is the short range, this doesn't have the same disadvantage as its 48" range I think.
