Kaldoth
So, I've got a buttload of CSMs to build for my ETL vow, and given that I'm playing Iron Warriors I kind of want to stay on the fluffy side with their appearance. Iron Warriors were pretty notorious for their use of MK III Iron Armor, so I wanted to reflect this when I built them. Problem is, all of the legs that come in the Chaos box are Corvus pattern. I don't want to fork out an arm and a leg to Forgeworld, so does anyone know a good tutorial for converting Corvus pattern legs into Iron Armor pairs? Any help would be appreciated! Cheers, -Kal Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/307276-converting-mk-iii-iron-armor-legs/ Share on other sites
infyrana
The MkVII might be a better starting point - with that round knee pad in place already, you'd just need to be good at putting on the upper thigh plate and lots of studs. You could try the aftermarket sites or ebay if you wanted to part with hard cash, though not by the looks of it :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/307276-converting-mk-iii-iron-armor-legs/#findComment-4034443 Share on other sites

Eeeeeeevery stinking last one of them And I've got no loyalist legs to use and no cash to spare :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/307276-converting-mk-iii-iron-armor-legs/#findComment-4034445 Share on other sites
Brother-Chaplain Kage
I've never seen such a tutorial, probably because it would be time consuming and a little difficult. If you really want to try for it, I'd suggest cutting down the top of the Corvus knee area until it looks like the MK III sans the knee pad, and then sculpt the knee pad on. Carlson793
Actually, BCK, I think going the other way would be best: cut a separation about a third of the way down to create separate knee/shin plates, then add the thigh plate (see the quick sketch on the left Mk VI armor below). Brother-Chaplain Kage
I considered that, but the top of the VI greave is more oblong than rounded and it would probably be quite difficult to carve, file, sand, etc a round shape out of it. infyrana
Sadly the CSM legs from the plastic box set (I believe the OP has these) aren't as long at the top. I think some very heavy practice sessions with green stuff and tiny tiny little beads will be in order. ...Or, find someone with a molding setup and ask them to mold some for you Edit: ...google search "making mkiii legs" and click on images, there's some funky things there if you look hard enough. Grotsmasha
Here's the exact post from the thread that infrana linked to, it's Gawain Veteris' excellent tutorial thread. Jolemai
Was just about to link that. The following smiley can sum it up: Just a shame he doesn't post on her much anymore. Would have liked to see some more tutorials. Razblood
I used Gawain's tut on my Flesh Tearer libby and the result was pretty good, despite my lack of gs-fu :tu: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/307276-converting-mk-iii-iron-armor-legs/#findComment-4035347 Share on other sites
