Today my cerastus titan finally arrived, however it didn't include any building instructions. I've found some instructions here:

http://smallworldminis.blogspot.be/2014/10/assembly-cerastus-knight-castigator.html

but would care to hear everyones advice to keep in mind. I inted to magnetize him so all tips on that are much appreciated!

last but not least, the concept art for herzog heinrich van anhalt, and the original painting on whom he'll be based:

I will make a magnetising guide at the end of next week, if you have the patience for that. I am working on the Acheron.

Small advice. Leg positioning is not easy. I use green stuff with majority yellow, then let some super glue run into where the parts connect to harden the green stuff and give you extra hold. Be careful though and don't let it run over your fingers :P

Very nice color scheme!  I was a bit confused by the left shoulder/leg until I noticed the heraldry in your referenced image - that's pretty cool!  I look forward to seeing your execution!

As for assembly, I can't stress enough the need to take your time and be patient with it.  Pinning the joints (especially everything below the waist) would be a good idea to provide long-term support.  Over time, superglue can become brittle.  The arms aren't as vital, as they're not supporting any weight, but the legs would benefit from the added stability.

Immersturm would be able to provide more advice, as he's currently working on the same Knight kit.  EDIT:  And he's already beaten me to it!

Very cool. if you need more medieval art for inspiration let me know. :biggrin.: I am part of a historical research and recreation group.

I'm actually part of an international jousting group, called stichting HEI:

we recently started delving into the 13th century and last weekend did our first 13th century show:

(just ignore the non historical beginning)

this is what inspired me to use the codex manesse as inspiration for a knight, given how much the 40k knights are based on the high medieval period. it also allowed me to field something more original than just another house terryn or whatever knight...

the build will definetly take its time, as during the unpacking it became clear the pauldrons got damaged during transport, and pieces of their reinforments broke off. the question is if i'll now try to repair them using plasticard and greenstuff, or destroy them even more, representing damage inflicted upon the knight. not to mention the usual bending in some resin pieces. not that i would dare to complain, given how cheap i picked this one up!

I also managed to forget to get a jar of leadbelcher metal today at the LGS so will need to head back there. (their gamecolor paints on sale at half the price distracted me too much...)

Immersturm, i'm definetly looking forward to your magnetisation tutorial!

Very cool!

not being patiently enough to wait on immersturms tutorial on how to build a cerastus knight i already went ahead and build some stuff, of which i was certain no magnetisation etc would be needed. fortunatly i ran out of superglue, forcing me to wait for the tutorial anyway! ;)

anyway, here are the results:

boy is this thing BIG! absolutly love it! kind of makes me feel the normal knights are a bit on the small side..., though i have yet to see one in person.

basing, to be added: flocked grass, and some overrun bushes. the barrels etc will be painted as if they've been there for quite a while.

pose i inted it to be in, with the head and flamer lookign straight to you. i think the smaller baseside as a front will be mor eusefull to manouvre it through dense terrain. could be wrong though. the torso is attached to the legs via 3 magnets

Base decorations is taking a bit longer than expected. Combine that with the apparently stuck package with more magnets, I think having a guide up by the end of the week is becoming more and more of an optimistic view. I will try and hurry though. Breaking a promise is dishonourable and thus is not an option.

here's where i got today, thanks to kilofix his plans!

the pose required some heavy alternation of the flamer feed, which unfortunatly broke during the build. therefor it got replaced by some actuall tubing. anyway, on to pictures, as we all know those are what counts!

http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb281/amorfatipictures/20150511_214700_zpsqn4rjnup.jpg

I also had to add a greenstuff ring, as the resin turned out to be too heavy for just the magnets.

Well, I guess it is too late now, but I just finished comparing the kits and I pretty much know where to attach the magnets to make the Acheron compatible with all other Cerastus Pattern weapons as well as all the regular Codex ones, in case I want to field him as a regular IK. They go pretty much where you expect them to go. Order for remaining magnets went out today. I will put a guide up regardless, but seems like hendrik won't be benefiting from it anymore.
