Inquisitor Valeria Mane Retenio

Recommended Posts

Wellllll another day off so I made some great headway on the tanks.  Still got a bunch of detail stuff to pick out and clean up, but its starting to come together.  I tried two different, but similar ways to heat treat the organ pipes.  Undecided on what way I like best, but both will be made to match.  tried putting snow onto the tracks, but that might be a couple layers of fake snow stuff to make it look right.  I am mixing my own paints and inks from a small selection of craft store paints and windsor inks.  I need to look at some rust tutorials now to try to add rusty corners onto the tanks.

Finished up the detail work on the two land raiders.  Now I am looking for possibilities for modeling Inquisitorial banners.  Having a bit of trouble finding anything about them.  But as for the models, they are done and I am happy with how they came out.

Well I sorted out some flags to use on my tanks, but then I remembered that my printer is black and white only......

>.<

So now to find a color printer to use.

Anyways, the flags will take a bit of touch up work once their cut up and added to some thin greenstuff.  But I think they should come out nicely.  Then I can go buck-wild on purity seals for the final step!

ETL vow 3 completed!  Flags for both Land Raiders are finished and I am happy about how they turned out.  Although finding a color printer on island was a little harder than i expected.

Here are the completed Land Raiders.

I am waiting on the bullgryn models to arrive to finish the warband.  I already have 3 of them, but I have another seven fantasy ogres, and the required armor, slabshields and bits to make ten total models.   Not exactly sure how to fit them into a Codex: Inquisition list, but they fit into the warband in a very fluffy manner, so I am happy about that anyways.

The banners and flags I made are from some random images and icons I found online and then used photoshop to mix them together.  I reduced the image size to a reasonable amount and then copied the image onto a single page for printing.  I them cut out the images,  glued them together with PVA glue and used some pens and markers to create folds in the flags.  The poles were from some thin gauge fiberglass rod I found months ago, and then I added some greenstuff sculpted torches atop each one with some decorative chain.

I am preparing to get involved in a rapidly growing Badabb war thread and will use this same method to create some banners for my Carcharodon forces.  The good Inquisitor Mane is likely to appear alongside these frightening warriors from deep space.   Appearing out of nowhere with such a ferocious force, the Inquisition would likely require some direct contact to help decide what to think of these pale skinned marines.

The Bullgryns arrive!  Mail arrived today and I picked up the first of two packages.  This one was my seven ogre warriors that will be converted into Bullgryns.   The other package is a pile of bits needed to convert them, but for now a short wash in some dettol should get them ready for conversion work.

I even ordered more greenstuff in advance.  I forsee much converting in my future!

Converting th3e fantasy ogres to Bullgryns wasnt as simple as I expected, but with a little creative modeling I have finished all ten and outfitted them with armor, heads and arms.  I will take a breather before I go to work on them with some green stuff.  Plenty of loose fits and gaps that will need attention.  I also got creative with modeling a power fist for the bullgryn commander.

The Bullgryn Brute Squad has been formed!  Providing a living wall of protection with their slab shields, and brutal close combat skills.  Bullgryn regulars from Imperial world Acoc IX have been permanently assigned to Inquisitor Valeria Mane.  May they serve the Emprorer well!

Across the darkness, a ship enters the warp.  Clad in black, it begins its journey to meet with Inquisitor Mane in the Dallarin Nebulae.  Ten cloaked and hooded men its only cargo.  Their ability to use the warp has been approved by the Ordo Hereticus.  Upon their arrival, they shall make for a potent force against the heretic and alien alike.  All praise to Ebay and the Emperor!

Thank you for the compliments.  I thought they would provide a good way to get my Inquisitor Karamakov "counts as" model into close combat range without having to eat as many shots straight to the face.  Plus, I mean Bullgryns... they are gonna be targeted instead.  Nobody wants those things to get into close combat with them.  The Slab shields were always a main focus of the Bullgryns since so much of the warband needs protection to get into close combat.

As for converting versus buying new models.  I live on a Carribean island that has no FLGS.  Instead I buy off of Ebay or online sites for everything I get.  I also have to consider that everything is charged again as it passes customs at the post office.  So I do some brutal price shopping for good deals.  I like converting models and like looking for deals on Ebay.  I also find that doing the conversions has helped me look at many new sites that deal with modeling.  I like to check out various articles and figure ways to make the stuff they use.

I was trying to figure out how you were getting the bullgryn armor bits but I guess bits shopping is how you got them. Makes sense now, it's fantastic work I can't tell which ones are which. How are you doing the force org for your warband? Are they using Bullgryn rules, or something else?

I do love me some ebay price camping.  I have had loads of luck getting bits for cheap and if I get a load all at once, it saves me on shipping.  I have used several bits suppliers there with great results.  In fact I have only one item to date that hasn't shown up and ebay refunded me.  I would rate my satisfaction pretty darn high.

As for the Bullgryns working with the warband.  I plan to add a unit of 10 psykers (en route already from ebay).  That should give me two units of elites and a HQ with a dedicated transport for each elite unit (Land Raider Relics).  The Bullgryns will be allied units from codex Astra Militarum.  Sgt Jones will play as a Nork Deddog "counts as", everyone else will be one of the two flavors of bullgryns. They will not be able to secure objectives, but with the Inquisitor always with them, that is already covered.
