Gunmonkey88
I can't remember who posted it but I saw an intruiging SWS set up where the squad has 3 demo charges and are deployed out of a vendetta on grav chutes. Obviously it would be expected to die pretty quick but before it does it can put some serious hurt on all sorts of nasty units, potentially killing far more above it's own points value in the event of some lucky scatter rolls. My question is, does anyone have any experience using this unit? I'm tempted to run it even if it's usually not that effective just so I can see my opponent's face when it does lol. Altasmurf
Back in the day's of 4 th I used to use drop troops special weapon squads with demo charges. The main issue is you have to scatter well on the deep strike and then scatter well on the demo charge. I'm sure if you used an allied drop pod that would help mitigate the deep strike issue. Something like a special weapon squad with demo charges in a taurox prime would be excellent. Drive 12" throw 2 bombs out the side door. scatmandoo
I have used a single demo charge and 2x melta. 3x demo is a crazy amount of points to lose if it goes wrong. WarriorFish
Yeah, but on the plus side it's sure to do something. The more enemies around the more likely it is to work :P I'd go for one demo with a double alternate weapon like scats. If it were a suicide squad then I'd go flamers. Cheaper and still makes them fairly dangerous so the enemy can't ignore them afterwards. SW1
The trick with the suicide squad is it needs to still be some form of threat. So I'd take 1 d/charge and 2 meltas or if you really are out for a laugh 3 d/charges plus krak grenades. Looking at the options now available I'll not be able to run a demo charge in the Vet squad which is a shame as I have 2 vets converted up with shotguns and d/charges. Gunmonkey88
I appreciate the feedback. I see this squad dying really fast (probably by their own demo charges) so I want them to be as killy as possible. Mostly, I just want to see the look on my opponent's face as their commander and terminator squad just evaporate in a single turn from a 90 point unit. Kontakt
taurox. 50 pts. Suicide satchel charge squad. 90 pts. Killing my fully kitted out 16 man crusader squad? Priceless. Bionicman
SWS compete with PCS for the seats in a vendetta so I am not using them that often. You throw all three charges at once, don't you? As they will die anyway and their charges are one use only, who cares if they fail one throw. I would assume that a ground transport will get sniped early as everyone is afraid of the blast(s). CoffeeGrunt
I personally love this unit, got a little squad of dudes converted up with Gravity Bombs for just this. As far as gameplay, they've been incredibly reliable for me, always making their points back. You have to pick their target well, either dropping the Vendetta into Hover mode for an easy deployment - remember the side doors to get closer - or risking a Grav Chute drop into the area. Yes, the drop is risky, but they've really put the hurt down on enemy units for me, and they're a tonne of fun. Afterwards you're left with the most useless unit you could field, as 3 of them only have Frag Grenades, (debating giving them Krak Grenades so they can go harass a vehicle.) Still, this unit has Objective Secured and thus is just enough of a threat for you to be able to draw fire with. march10k
Well...you could put the valkyrie in hover mode to ensure that they don't scatter...If your target merits three satchel charges, the risk to the valk is a miniscule price to pay!
