5 Dreadknights - CAD and Nemesis at 1850

I have never really understood the pull of playing Grey Knights like the were a Battletech Clan having no resemblance to the faction the codex is meant to represent. Thats of course only from a fluff perspective though even crunchwise 5 DKs seem too over the top. Using up 1100+ points to spam five DKs in 1850 point leaves just enough points for two pretty barebone terminator squads and two librarians for the the NSF detachments. I guess your meta must be radically different from mine because if I showed up with a list like that nobody would even play against it calling it a "WAAC"-list and cheesy. How does this work out for you?

I wouldnt say its a WAAC list as i dont think you can make a WAAC GK list lol.

It would struggle to win the missions most times. Sure youd kill a lot but would you kill enough of the enemy to win the game....not always. And against centurions or the prevalence of D in Eldar a few good shots reduces your effectiveness significantly

Well I wouldn't bring this type of list to just play a pick up game. That would beover the top and I wouldn't do that unless it was a pre set game were my opponent and I were both plaYing hardcore lists. This was more of an idea I had for a tourney that I was looking at going to. I think it could suprise some folks and put some people on the heels.

I was just curious if anyone has ever tried it and what there experience was. Sometimes when it comes to tourneys the unexpected wins more often then not in my opinion.

Totally agree. Look at the meta and what people normally take and go the other way! Your opponents will have built their list expecting x and you bring y.

For example how about 5 x 10 man Strike Squads each with 2 psycannons and 2 Hammers as a core with 2 x 5 man purgation squads with 4 psycannons. 1640 total i think and you have 18 psycannons and a ton of bodies. 200 points for your hq left. Nobody would expect this list currently and it may do well because of this.

It'll work. It's boring, and I actually agree with Aethernitas on this one. I've done the quad DK build and it's effective. But I'm branching out into TDA heavy or Interceptor lists now, because whilst DK's are the best unit in our codex without contest, it's lame just spamming them. I'm scaling back to 2 and bringing more Terminators. A little less effective, but I think with the D-weapon proliferation we're seeing from Eldar, it'll be more effective as time goes on.
