Ulrik_Ironfist
I'd say find yourself some solid tan BDU's, and a brown pistol belt. What did you make the flak vest from? CoffeeGrunt
Plasticard. Plan is to remake it using a lighter vest as a base, and 3D Printed flak plates. I'm going to have a go at getting an Aquila belt buckle printed, then work out from there to try new things. Looking at the idea of making a Plasma Gun to go with it, should be a fun electronics project to get the lights built in and such. Ulrik_Ironfist
That would be cool. Just curious, what are you using for reference material for the flak vest? Models or is there something else? CoffeeGrunt
Models mainly, which makes it awkward to get the proportions right, as they're off-scale a bit. Ulrik_Ironfist
Take a look at real military body armor, since it's already proportioned for a body, and then add the plasticard/3D printed plates to it. I have a metric ton of it laying around so I'd be happy to provide you some reference pictures. You could probably pick up some cheap airsoft vests to convert (45-50 bucks, so I'd say around 25 ish pounds). CoffeeGrunt
I originally used a paintball vest, though I'll probably go for a lighter one later on. This one really weighed down on the shoulders after a few hours. The attachment method would be the other challenge. I want it to look layered and three-dimensional. Ulrik_Ironfist
That wouldn't be so hard to duplicate, though I'm having trouble seeing how a paintball vest would weight that much, isn't it just neoprene padding? Maybe it's just that I'm used to my 14 pound plate carrier (unloaded), or my 35lb IOTV (unloaded base vest). CoffeeGrunt
It wasn't heavy as such, just that wearing it for eight hours a day got a bit tiring on the shoulders. I couldn't tell you what it was made from tbh. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/307553-cadian-cosplay/page/2/#findComment-4059170 Share on other sites
Ulrik_Ironfist
I'd need to make some form of pauldrons to go on my IOTV (Which is in UCP), and then I need to make a face mask to clip onto my helmet, and then bingo, I have a finished Kasrkin loadout (minus the cables for a hotshot). Then I could dress up as my kasrkin, using my airsoft guns as lasgun stand-ins Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/307553-cadian-cosplay/page/2/#findComment-4059340 Share on other sites
