Existing AdMech armies?

Recommended Posts

A year or two back I constructed an AdMech explorator force via conversions and other kits using space marine rules and was dissapointed to see that my units and models wouldnt translate well into the new Skittari and Adeptus Mechanicus codexes, but I still want to use these new models and rules... I knew a lot of the folks around here and beyond had pre existing admech forces using 30k rulees or space marine rules, etc. So I was wondering what you guys were going to do? Im in a bit of a pickle about this.

If your models are mounted on the correct base, then I do not see an issue, even if they are taller. I do plenty of conversions, so I suggest putting up a few images so me and a the others can have a look at it to be able to recommend your next course of action ;)

I started my AdMech/Skitarii army early last year, before the original release of the Knights.  They were meant as a warband for INQ28 and/or Inquisimunda, but they've spiraled a bit out of control since then.  I'll wrap what I can into the Codex Adeptus Mechanicus books, and whatever's left will be used as Henchmen using Codex: Inquisition.  To be honest, though, since they were meant more for roleplaying and/or display pieces, I won't be too bent out of shape if they don't all find appropriate rules.

I have two squads of skittari, which easily fit and even look a lot like the skittari ranger models that GW just released, what Im more concerned with are my other units. My magos wears a modified suit of terminator power armor that in my fluff has been welded in place of his skin. I also have a squad of gun servitors/myrmidons (they look like they could be either and I havent exactly decided what to distinguish them as-but currently they are counts as sternguard or as honor guard for my magos)

I was hoping the AdMech codex would have gun servitors other than the heavy tracked guys so I could fill them in that role...but alas, looks like thats not the case.

I also have a Techmarine interred within a dreadnought that I field as an Ironclad, I ocasionally used 30k rules and fielded it as a Castellan robot. But its too bulky and shooty to be an Ironstrider counts as, and I only have one so I cant make it a Kastelan...Possibly a "squad leader" for a squad of the tracked gun servitors? The base size seems the same.

I also have a Vindicator painted up in my forgeworlds heraldry with a nice crimson color to it. I was going to scrap it to be a chaos vindicator for a little side project, and I can live without it.

and I have a vast assortment of little skull probes and servitor henchmen that I use as chaplains or apothecaries and other support roles.

I just dont know how well this will blend with the new units and rules.

I was thinking of painting up some spare space marines as Clan Raukaan or as Techmarines in training, and attaching the vindicator, the techmarine dreadnought, and my magos to them as space marine allies and throwing everything else into Skittari and AdMech codex slots. But this creates a cray army that runs on 4 different codexes (space marines, skittari, admech, and knights) (I have a knight in my force as well)

Either way, with these releases my army is becoming one big mess.

I think custom units are the best, and ever model in my army always have some degree of customization. I think the only thing that matters is it should be at least kind of believable and it should have weapons that are passable. If you have different kind of weapons in a unit. You should be able to see it. like if everyone in the unit has a rad carbine and one dude has an arc rifle; those two thing should look different.

So if you can make your dude work with in that. I'd play with you all the time, and if you couldn't... i'd at least play one game with you, and see how it goes.

I started my ad mech, with 2 units of hooded robed servitors with Bolters attached to arm, ran as iron hand scouts, I produced some stern guard, with bionic arms legs, I add the vanguard heads recently. I used micro art studios iron brother hood as tech marines And also my chapter master/master of the forge. I had a landraider, painted up to match my house teranis, ran them with my Knights. Now I run them with my skitarii, I use a chapter master with the eternal shield to tank wounds for my rusttakers.
