Greeting again !

I just purchased the new knight codex and warden/crusader/errant  kit and it is in the mail. I want to magnetize all the arms and weapons for it and ive never used magnets before though. Does anyone know what size magnets I should use? How to start off any helpful tips or guides? where do I put the magnets? Do i need extra bits? Anything would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!:biggrin.:

My advice will depend on your budget.  While you can magnetize all of the parts in the Knight kit, it looks much better if you pick up additional parts and magnetize in sub-assemblies.  So rather than magnetizing the main gun barrels, buy the extra bits to build a complete arms.  You can magnetize at the elbows to switch between all five variants, as the guns are not necessarily side-dependent - except for the gauntlet.

Thank you both for your advice. Commodus what parts would you recommend getting? ANd the elbow? the part where the gun arm connects halfway to the forearm?

I have a $500.00 USD budget lol but i dont want to spend to much money on magnets. Do i drill a hole for them?

You can generally find the arm bits on eBay for $20-30.  Including the kit that you have, I would look into getting 1 complete battlecannon or thermal cannon arm from the elbow down.  The BC/TC share the same gun body with different bits tacked onto it.  I'd be looking for a second body so instead of magnetizing all of those extra bits, you simply pull one complete lower arm off and pop the other on:

You will want to drill holes to put the magnets in.  Some magnets come with the proper bits, some don't. You can sort it out with a quick trip to the hardware store.  I don't do a lot of magnetization work, but I find it best to drill a smaller hole with a hand drill (i.e. not a power drill) and ream it out with a hobby knife.  If you try to drill a large hole in a small plastic part, you can very easily destroy it or hurt yourself.

The new sprue has dedicated parts for each weapon, so that's not an issue.  It's just the bits from the original part of the kit that share bits between options that gets annoying.  For the carapace missile launcher, you can easily magnetize the faces to swap between options.
