Mitigating Alpha Strike

One thing has me worried with Skitters, and that is Alpha Strike. One, the kind of Alpha Strike that SM bring with drop pods and combi-weapon bombs. Two, the Alpha Strike that Imperial Guard brings by bringing loads of cheap and powerful long ranged guns.

 

How to mitigate those? Our Walkers are cheap and numerous enough to take the above and AV12 in cover is not as easy to open from afar. I am more worried about the foot dudes. They are very susceptible to shooting from things like Combi-Plasmas or cover ignoring AP4 shots.

 

Any thoughts? One idea that always comes to mind is the Void Shield Generator. Only place your foot dudes in there while the vehicles stay outside. That way, the folks will be safe from anti-infantry shooting and the opponent will need to dedicate some of its anti-tank shooting to open the Shields. Those guns will not be firing at Walkers and Knights, which is also good.

 

Any more ideas to help our small dudes survive outside of allying in Metal Boxes from various SM factions?
