How tall is that titan?

Recommended Posts

Hello folks,

This may have been covered already, but i am trying to figure out the in game height of an Imperator titan. i found the following on warseer ( http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?173372-Titan-heights-and-40k-scale ) which describes the imperator as 29'' or 2' 4'' tall?? wacko.png

This seems somewhat piddly to me as when comparing the scale of the marines to a warlord in epic, the warlord itself ended up being about 4' 8''.Since they were launched, i have felt that the FW titan scales were off, though i can understand why they have made them the size they have for cost & production purposes. However, the question stands in regard to the Emperator - baring in mind the descriptions of these massive metal beasties in all the fluff as walking fortresses and the alleged troop capacity of a couple of guard regiments, etc, im thinking that an imperator should be at least 5'6'' (closer to 6'+) tall.

So, learned Brothers, i put it to you - what size is that titan?

Cheers,

Arg.

...and yet smaller than a blue whale... msn-wink.gif

You laugh now, but wait until Forgeworld makes 40k-scale Battlefleet Gothic models.

On topic, don't forget that infantry in Epic are kinda oversized, makes determining scale a pain. Like the Reaver and Warhound models, the FW Warlord will likely have a modeled interior with crew - so it seems likely that the upcoming Warlord is reasonably scaled in terms of the 28mm Warlord crew modeled sitting/walking inside it (1 princeps and 2-3 assistants?).

i meant the model was smaller than a blue whale! blink.png

Warlord crew is, i believe, 5 in the head (priceps, one for each arm, locomotion and sensors, closely follwed by the engineering crew and menials in the torso. I recall a titans crew being described as in the dozens if not hundreds.

Looking at that pic Brother Chaplain Kage , (very nice btw) i would say that a model warlord needs to be 6-7 feet tall, if not more, which definately is more of a god-engine than stumpy the armoured dwarf which FW seem to be producing.

The "official" scale of Titans is rarely the same in any two printed sources. There are paintings of Warlord Titans towering over mountaintops, doesn't make it true.

The scale diagrams on the Apocalypse datasheets suggested ~24" for a Warlord and ~40" for an Imperator, which tallies with the various in-universe sources that typically put the Imperator somewhere between 1.5 and 3 times the size of a Warlord, depending on which extremes you use.
