Joe
Hey all. I have a rhino chassis from the Deimos Pattern Predator kit (the roof section) that is bent slightly out of alignment on one side, preventing the model from fitting together correctly. Does anyone have any idea how I might be able to bend it back into shape? Quixus
If the part is resin, put it in hot water and flatten it out. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/307942-bending-a-rhino-chassis/#findComment-4052336 Share on other sites
Carlson793
To add to Quixus' recommend, put in hot water, and when the resin is pliable, pull it from the water, bend it to the shape it's supposed to be, and while still holding it in shape, plunge it into ice water until all the heat dissipates from the part. Aias
When I was working with that kit recently, I actually found a hair dryer on low heat worked wonders. Use the dryer in one hand, part in the other and you can get it to straighten quickly. If the dryer has a "cool" setting, you can then use that to cool it off quicker, as well. Just be careful not to use it for extended periods; this works best with minor warping rather than having to extensively reshape a part. Joe
It's not actually a resin piece that's causing any issues; oddly enough none of the resin pieces in the kit are warped for a change. :p It's the actual rhino hull that Games Workshop produce, which has bowed upward/outward, leaving a few mm gap whenever the kit is put together for a dry run. I'll try heating it up with a hairdryer and bending it that way. Cheers for the advice all. \o Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/307942-bending-a-rhino-chassis/#findComment-4052425 Share on other sites
Grotsmasha
Liquid Green Stuff to gap fill is an alternative to sort the last little gap. Cheers, Jono Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/307942-bending-a-rhino-chassis/#findComment-4056295 Share on other sites
