Magnusthetraitor's Return to the Fang

Recommended Posts

Hello again! After a years-long sabbatical from the Space Wolves, dallying with the Ruinous Powers and just plain not playing 40k, I've returned to the Fang. I've got a big team event coming up here in a few months, and I'll be bringing my Space Wolves along. I just finished up my army list for the event and thought I'd share it as my first hello in quite a while!

I've got a few Dreadnoughts (including The Murderfang!) to paint for the event, and I'll be documenting my progress here. I find sharing the progress is a great motivator!

There, is that working now? This is my pre-priming pic. I've got some better pics to upload later. What do you guys use for image hosting?

Ah, photobucket works great. That makes posting pictures much easier!

Anyway, here is the current state of my great company!

A close up of the infantry shelf:

This isn't counting the tackeboxes full of Terminator bodies and various marines in different states of deconstruction. Having an army span multiple editions all with their own legal equipment can be hard on models. The first Grey Hunters and Blood Claws I painted for this army were in December 2009.

That drop pod on the bottom shelf far left; are the stabilizer fins attached upside down to raise the base off the ground? If not, what modifications did you make to the model to give it that effect? I absolutely love the way that pod looks and I'm assuming its different for a reason. Perhaps a proxy Lucius pastern dreadnought drop pod?

EDIT: Your army looks amazing and i love the blending between old school and current wolves. What with the Leman Russ tanks and the classic titan. Magnifique.

EDIT 2: I believe those are classic predator tanks instead. I recognize my failing and shall be sure to correct it.

EDIT 3: Grammar and spelling.

EDIT 4: Welcome back traitorous brother.

I built it as a Lucius stand in for the Contemptor, and then never even played it! it has been half painted for years now. I liked the look. I will take a better pic of it for you.

And yes, classic Predator tanks, and a classic whirlwind in there as well. The predator got a lot of use in 5th and a lot less lately.

At the same time, I was working on the arms for my Venerable Dreadnought, Harald.

And I got Bjorn's shiny new Helfrost Cannon painted up as well:
