GreyCrow
That is a fair point yeah :) I just don't see myself fielding massive blobs, so MSU would work out pretty well indeed. Hesh Kadesh
And for not getting domino sweeps and better flex in shooting. 2 units of 10 Terminators is 400pts with a few upgrades. Spend a few more points and increase your potential. Plus, armies like Sons of Horus and Ultras get bemefits from combined charges/shooting etc (although SoH would have to rely on characters providing similar benefits. As more ways come out to play Legion lists though, PotL is one of the weakest ways to play, only Armoured Assault being worse. Kossaka
Which Legions bring the most to the table when fielding Vets in Chosen Duty or Vets and Terminators in Pride of the Legion? It seems that certain Legion special rules support smaller units than the 15-20 man bricks and/or more specialized units. SkimaskMohawk
In reality I only see people taking pride of the legion for vets as troops for three reasons. The first is they're getting into 30k from 40k and can only field classic tactical squads so they need them to make a list. The second is the player doesn't feel comfortable with blobs and prefers the msu 5 man squads ala plasma combi plas of 40k. The third is for the absolutely cheapest core of the army with delegatus and 2 min sized squads. Vets are decent, but situational. On the whole there's far more well-rounded elite slots (rapiers and mortis contemptors) that should be getting attention and I can't see using a row just to be able to take them. If people are looking for a elite armies, you can still easily make them if you take the more exotic units and options. I only see msu working as an alpha strike with very good delivery, backed up by long range support to them. Basically you overload your opponents with threats that are all in immediate range to kill things. They should have a hard time deciding between the stuff up front that doesn't really make a huge impact individually but will disrupt their line, or the stuff in the back that will take chunks out of their army. They should be worrying about this from the moment you've deployed and if you've got first turn you can compound it by killing a main source of their damage or at least maiming it Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/308053-pride-of-the-legion-row/page/2/#findComment-4075031 Share on other sites
