Wolf Lord Loki
It's been a few years since the heresy first came out and I've been toying with the idea of converting the space marine chapters I own into a heresy force. Fortunately I was lucky in my choices as I have Space Wolves and White Scars to choose from. Unfortunately it appears neither are going to get heresy rules any time soon, so which would be worth making the switch with? I have the best parts of a battle company (that has had 2 squads switched to bikes) and a great company to work with. What are your thoughts? Hesh Kadesh
People who like Scars will say Scars. Wolves fans will say wolves. Do you like Bikes? The wolves there is little info about. One-eye
Yes, it's pretty much up to personnal choice. A HH army is a lot of investiment (time&money), so choose wisely. If you want rules asap, I think wolves have a good chance of poping before WS. noigrim
I believe that the Prospero book is coming in spring 2016 so I would do wolves. Plus: poweraxe spamming. Slips
FW Have said to peeps who were at WHW Re-opening that they're planning on releasing RoWs and Upgrade Kits for the as-of-yet unreleased Legions over the course of the next 4-6 months. So, if your patient, you should see something for either Legions before the next book is out; which, at this point we don't know what it'll be about. noigrim
They'll release also the "legiones astartes" rules for each legion? Looking forward to blood angels, scars and thousand sons. Wolf Lord Loki
Hello One Eye, I was just looking at a thread of yours! Lol. Very inspiring! I fear whichever force I choose I won't be able to replicate that level of skill! I'm thinking of using what I currently have for 40k and bulking it out with appropriate heresy units. Noigrim, I'd heard similar on the rumour mill so I'm definitely leaning towards working on my White Scars now and wait to update my Wolves when they actually have a book. So that said where would I be best making a start? Wolf Lord Loki
Kadesh, I do like the mounted idea. My 40k force was themed around a tale I heard of the Mongols using mounted archers to lure more armoured troops into a valley where they ambushed them with archers. Hence I have a mounted captain and command squad plus 2 squads on bikes but the rest of the company is pretty much codex. I also have a Dev squad with multimeltas and it encourages me to move them and for some reason tanks are wary of approaching their objectives! ;-) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/308144-heresy-era-wolves-or-scars/#findComment-4057439 Share on other sites
noigrim
There's the infamous 9man jetbike squad with primus medicae, you'll find plenty of tutorials for converting 40k bikes into flying ones. We're a few, but I'm sure we'll keep growing when the rules/models will appear :) To start, it depends on what you already have for 40k. Jetbikes are a no-brainer I think... Even if I haven't done some yet :D There's the infamous 9man jetbike squad with primus medicae, you'll find plenty of tutorials for converting 40k bikes into flying ones. It might not be the right place, but what about a jetbike command squad with praetor + primus medicae ?? Pricy I think... Slips
*snip* There's the infamous 9man jetbike squad with primus medicae, you'll find plenty of tutorials for converting 40k bikes into flying ones. It might not be the right place, but what about a jetbike command squad with praetor + primus medicae ?? Pricy I think... Jetbike Command Squad's only advantage is Squad-wide Power Weapons and anyone of them being able to Challenge + Fearless Bubble. Beyond that, the Standard jetbikes give you a bit more flexibility shooting wise since you cant swap out the CS's Heavy Bolters (unless your a Salamander and Swap them to Heavy Flamers for free). They can also go to 10 man Squad Size if needed vs the CS's maximum 5. Wolf Lord Loki
Does sound a bit pricey. If I'm honest cost is probably the main reason I don't already have some! If someone could post links to tutorials to convert them that would be great (I did search but I'm not very good at it :-() Also any one know of jet bikes with the riders in a sports bike position rather than looking like they are riding their armoured harness! ;-) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/308144-heresy-era-wolves-or-scars/#findComment-4057557 Share on other sites
One-eye
I don't have any conversion tutorial, but a French blogger has done a comparison between all 3rd party jetbikes. It's in French but easy to understand. The Maxmini one is by far my favorite, and pretty cheap also (compared with FW). Marshal Rohr
Both legions are known for being particularly brutal fighters with a preference for melee combat. It comes down to which theme you prefer.
