Word Bearers 9th host

Hey there all, this is my first post on Bolter&Chainsword, but i have been collecting Word Bearers for a little while, so I will start of with a couple of already painted squads.

 

Without further ado, here is my first squad, the 1st Coterie:

Hope you like them, I would like some ideas as to what to paint next: Imperial Knight, Baneblade, Daemon Engines, Tanks, Cultists, Daemons, Termies, Possesed or Marines.

 

Currently working on my second squad, so that will be done first.

Dark Apostle Harzhan: I will be building a proper Dark Apostle (i.e.not just the DV chaplain with the crozius replaced) later but I don't know which model to base it on

Adept Nagar Kel: ( I have evil plans for this guy involving warplflame and spares from several Daemon sprues) Candles need resculpting as well, they were my first attempt

Renegades! My favourite Forge World models, after I got Imperial Armour 13 I no longer had an excuse not to get some.

 

Primaris-Rogue Witch: (I may do some warpflame thing with him too, not sure if I have the parts yet)

Acolyte Laeron: (My first attempt at guardsman overkill, inspired by Razakel's awesome Word Bearers thread HERE, still very WIP)

Really cool stuff. Only nitpick I have is that your barrels aren't drilled out especially the ones in your first squad.

 

Possessed would be my vote to paint next. They look cool.

Ok,looks like I'll be painting possessed next. My second coterie are nearly finished, done the first 6 models.

Kreigsmacht: I tried to drill my bolters once and it failed catastrophically, any tips on how to do it?

How's the red done?

For bolters I just use a drill like the citadel one. I make a little notch in the centre of the barrel and start drilling. I don't have a bit big enough so if I'm off center I just widen the hole with a knife. Best I can do for my guys.

 

Also I like your test Possessed. :)

Zeller- very simple, I just base coat rhinox hide, drybrush khorne red, and then wash nuln oil.

Got completely distracted from possessed, ended up doing some sculpting instead. Don't worry, possessed in my next  post. Anyway, here is what I've been doing: (I did some other marines too but they are not worth showing)

Plus I said in an earlier post I was going to give the sorcerer something, so here it is:

Made a lot of progress, finished the possessed, painted more renegades and did a chaos counts-as callidus.

Or how to convert a corpse such as this one:

 

Next up is the vindicare, a renegade basilisk and then maybe the converted marines or some raptors.

 

Additionally, I had an idea of using warhammer ogres with power klaws, chainfists, hood etc to use as renegade ogryns. Any ideas on how to do it?

As you can see i did some random runes on the basilisk, not sure about the look. Was also first time I used Typhus Corrosion, very happy with the result so I went back and applied it to all my renegades.

 

Won't do any painting over the next two weeks, and then i'll do the raptors.

You get a slightly flayed torso like that in the zombie sprue

Finished painting my raptors:

 

I'm very pleased with the fire effect on the jump packs, you can see it in the last photo. I also painted the warpfire coming from the sorcerors hand:

 

I painted the first 5 members of my 3rd coterie, but they won't be done for a while as I am putting all my effort into scratch building a board for armies on parade.

I really like your Chaos Assassin take, and the equally (possibly a little more?) excellent Vindicare variant.  I may follow suit and make myself a Chaos-y Vindicare.. Really enjoy that idea.  Well played all around sir!

Thanks all. I have not made much progress as I have been working on an armies on parade board. This has spurred me on to redo some bits of my army, so bolter barrels have been drilled, impurity seals fixed and more script added. Nothing big though, except I re-based my models from sandy (and terrible looking) to city-fight style bases.

 

I have also painted the first 5 members of my third coterie:

 

I'm happy with the look of them, but I think they need more script. Finally, I thought I should cover my Vindicator and Contemptor in script. Do you agree?
