Brother Clavero
Has anyone used the "dip method" for painting Ultramarines? I've thought about giving it a try but wanted to see if anyone has had experience with this first! Major_Gilbear
I can't see a problem in principle, but I'd use something like a dark grey dip rather than the more usual brown. For example, a number of historical painters doing Napoleonics and Dark Ages stuff start with a white basecoat, block in colours and then apply a heavy wash all over of Payne's Grey (which is dark blue-grey colour). After that, detail as normal - looks pretty good for minimal effort. Leviathus
Sure, why not. Like Major_Gilbear said, you'd best dip em in dark grey or black. Just be careful not to clog the models too much. Wraithwing
It does work. Here is a Novamarine that got dipped: I blocked in the colours and then used Army Painter Dark Tone. You may need to touch up areas that look too dark afterward.
