captain sox
Hey folks. I'm thinking about getting one of the Forgeworld Warhound Titans and I would like to know what your experiences have been with them. I've worked minimally with resin, and I'm a bit nervous about this endeavor. How old is the cast? Have serious warping issues been reported / found? What's the level of detail like? is it worth the $600+ dollars I want to invest in it? Any and all advice would be great. While I'm seriously contemplating the Warlord Titan, I need to start at the bottom before I work my way up. Thanks for your wisdom and advice in advance! clanfield
my warhound: I bought and built a year ago no warping of parts no distortion of detail all very good large "tabs" of resin need to be removed from parts though I did not pin the joints I used milliput and 2 stage epoxy resin to glue very strong I would recommend getting a model vice and saw for the big parts to remove the tabs also I bought new blades for the scalpel I use and some diamond files as they are very fine finish when done all told assembly took me 5 days painting another 4 days also I paid a lot of attention to weight distribution on the feet and built the base under the feet with metal washers to support the strain the detail on the kit is amazing and this really is my extra child and my prize possession I built her in sub assembly's weapons, body feet ,legs ,head as for weapons you can change the weapons out with bolts or magnets but I chose to weld mine in I chose the turbo laser and Vulcan mega bolter for engine hunting duty hope this helps Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/308469-question-about-resin-titans-warhound/#findComment-4064977 Share on other sites
captain sox
It does help... thank you. I've been advised to use a mask while cutting / sanding. what was your experience? Lots of dust? Frater Cornelius
Resin dust is toxic. Wear a face mask regardless of where you do it. I usually cut or grind my resin outside just to be sure. As for the Warhound. I recommend getting a single strong magnet (several small ones are not enough) to magnetize the upper body for ease of transportation. clanfield
total agree get a mask the dust is fine and not so good for you if you do magnetize use good strong magnets you really don't want it falling and smashing Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/308469-question-about-resin-titans-warhound/#findComment-4065557 Share on other sites
