BlodVargarna
How does sonic cleaner/simple green work with plastic? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/308547-brake-fluid/page/2/#findComment-4207358 Share on other sites
GrandMagnus
Break fluid is toxic. Simple green is the safer way for removing paint from models. Yeah, thats what I thought, which is why I thought I would ask first. Sadly I cant get simple green here. i use a diluted mix of acetone( nail polish remover ) and water, and it works well for me What's the mixture? I'd like to try that for some of my older metal models sorry for the ultra late reply, I use 1 part acetone to two part water Doesn't acetone melt resin? The Unseen
I don't about all the people knocking brake fluid, I was worried at first, so I dropped an old 3rd ed plastic marine that had been given like 3 different paint jobs over the years, and left it overnight. Next morning, threw on some cheap gloves and used an old toothbrush, paint just fell off it. No damage to the model. So, yeah, I wouldn't use it barehanded, and the disposal can be a pain, but it works. I'm in the same boat as I can't get simple green, and didn't feel like paying for over seas shipping. P.S. Yeah, Acetone straight up eats plastic, and probably resin too. Gurth
Doesn't acetone melt resin? polyurethane is likely to dissolve in acetone so you could end up with just a puddle of sludge.
