furstyferret
Hi guys, here's my first 2000 point IW army list. Below is some general points about it, but I'm hoping to get feedback and suggestions. HQ Forge Lord (Centurion) 147 points – volkite charger, cataphractii armour, cortex controller, augury scanner Master of Signals (Centurion) 105 points – artificer armour Elite Apothecary 60 points – artificer armour, augury scanner Apothecary 60 points – artificer armour, augury scanner Thudd Gun 60 points Thudd Gun 60 points 5 Tyrant Siege Terminators 300 points – chainfist Contemptor-Mortiis Dreadnought 180 points – two assault cannon Troops 15 Tactical Marines 230 points – artificer armour, power axe, vexilla 15 Tactical Marines 230 points – artificer armour, power axe, vexilla Heavy Support 3 Castellax Automata 258 points – search lights Sicaran Battle Tank 155 points – heavy bolters, shrapnel rounds Vindicator 155 points – laser destroyer array, machine spirit This is designed to be a decent, but fluffy, army list. It will hopefully work as both a stationary (defensive) army, but also able to trudge up the field with good support from the tanks and Thudd Guns. Augury scanners and search lights may seem unnecessary, but one of the main opponents will be using Night Lords, whereas the others using teleporting/drop podding stuff. The Forge Lord will be stationed with the Castellax to keep them in line and to repair the odd wound. The Master of Signals will be stationed with the Terminators. He will act as fire support with his barrage, but also provide the +1BS to the Tyrants and give LOS to the Thudd Guns. I’m still unsure if the Tactical Squads need the Vexilla being immune to Ld tests from shooting. Perhaps someone with games under their belt can advise. I decided on the Vindicator with laser destroyer due to the lack of anything that can deal with really heavy armour. I’m still swithering about this choice. Any advice would be much appreciated. Galron
I like it. Its a lot of good utility units in a small point game(for 30k anyway). On apothecaries, scanners should be auto include anyway. too cheap and too useful not to have them. First person I have seen to use heavy bolters on a Sicaran. Let us know how that works out at some point. I usually just plop lascannon on mine. Yeah the vexillia seem like a waste of points. That's two extra marines you can add to those squads. My one question is, would a siege master work better for you with the Tyrants than a master of signal. Giving krak missile terminators Tank Hunter is a really sweet ability. I find it more useful than +1 BS. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/308671-2000-points-iron-warriors/#findComment-4069816 Share on other sites
furstyferret
Thanks for the reply. :) Yes, I did wonder about the Siege Master as well, but everyone seems to flock towards the Master of Signals. I think you have a very valid point. Overall, the +1BS probably isn't as useful as Tank Hunter. I don't own a Sicaran yet so haven't tried it out, but a friend runs his in every game with H.Bolter sponsons. I don't think it's ever failed to make its points back. Granted that's against Eldar and my Daemons, so very light armour if any, but it still performs well. I think the setup depends on the army and the opponent, but taking into account the Vindicator, Contemptor and Tyrants, I thought anti-tank had a good representation. The main gun can still be used if needed as well.
