My thought process was this; Ferrus and Praetor with Gorgons in Spartan as a delivery system, anti anything. Large Tac squad for home objective holding, 2 mechanised ones for midfield. Grav guns in rhino outflanking due to Rite of War, anti superheavy / heavy tanks. Sicaran because I love the look of that model, and from what I've read it has pretty decent rules. Fire Raptor as anti air cover. Contemptor and 3x Predators for fluff flavour... love the idea of an Iron Hands tank column, could even outflank them depending on enemy force. Any glaring school boy errors or observations? Memento Of Prospero Posted June 4, 2015 Share Posted June 4, 2015 grav guns in rhinos are rather disappointing as you will find. They are heavy 18 inch blasts, so any vehicle can get away before you get to fire and can't snap fire on disembark. Instead of a Praetor, I would consider a flavour of Consul. You will gain much more from their special rule benefits than +1 attack and a efty price tag. Other than that, good hunting! Trydragon Posted June 5, 2015 Share Posted June 5, 2015 I agree with Wolf, for the most part Drop your Preator down to a Cent, the Support Squad with Volkite chargers outflaning is Awesome but Grav guns dont realy work well like that i put them in your Deployment and drop the rhino. Also that big blob of 20 is calling for an Apothacry yes i Know you get a 6+ FnP but a 5+ is better. :D If you want a moble Grav gun you can put them on the Gorgons and the Dread. Also just incase you have as i done it rember you get Blessed Autosimulacra for free when running Head of the gorgon my Version of Battle Scribe dosnt take that in to count. other then that looks good. I shall rethink that. Also good catch on the Consul / Praetor bit, not sure why I plumped straight for a Praetor really! Great points, thanks! I had considered an Apothecary, and since posting this list have read a lot of praise for them! Volkite hey? Ill look into that! And yes, quite right on the Auto Simulacra - what a pain! Still, good to have it for free :) Ta for the feedback guys, really really appreciated! I'm no noob to Warhammer, but 30k seems to have a very different meta - loving the big boots on the ground vibe! So 225 points for 12 Autocannon shots... that feels like such a lack of potential. A squadron of 3 Predators Outflanking could be amazing. I guess I like the minimalist appraoch to prevent the egg-basket effect. Nonetheless, take a look at these possibilities (all with that free Blessed Autosimulacra of course): 3 Predators + Autocannon turrets - 225pts (your existing unit) 3 Predators + Autocannon turrets, heavy bolter sponsons and pintle heavy bolter - 330pts 2 Predators + Magna-melta and lascannon sponsons - 270pts 2 Predators + Executioner plasma destroyer and lascannon sponsons - 265pts Unless you're specifically targeting Rhino chassis in the side or rear armour, all those other units will likely perform better against a wider range of targets. They'll also draw more attention, which you may be able to use to your advantage somehow. My main reason for keeping them down to Autocanons is actualyl aesthetic! I rather like the look of an autocannon pred with nothing on the sponsons. That said, it also serves the minimalist approach to point investment in such a unit! I shall certainly give your words some thought, you make a good argument and some extra firepower on the flank might just be what I need :) thanks!
