Kona
I just recently got back into the hobby. I just got most my vechicles in and I plan on magnetizing as much as I can. I have a pretty good idea on what I need for my IG stuff but can anyone recommend what size/quantity magnets I'll need for my knight. It's the Warden box. Never done magnets before so not sure. Plan on doing all weapons options, the faces, and maybe at the waist point. Brother Amarel
You don't need to magnetise the waist - just extend the 'nub' on the dome so as the top won't slip off of the legs (that will make sense once you build the legs if it doesn't at the moment). I can't advice on the faces, as I didn't do that, but for the Thermal Cannon / Battle Cannon I used 2mm by 2mm magnets for the Battle Cannon (embeded in where the circular sections of the gun mount touch the main section of the gun), and 5mm by 1mm on the end of a rod that runs through the main section and into the Thermal Cannon. Honestly, I think I over-complicated the Thermal Cannon, but it works. Graymage
It does pay to use a washer and piece of steel or other magnetic material for the waist for transport. I always magnetize my larger walker miniatures for ease of transport. Vel'Cona
I didn't magnetize mine, and I regret it. It's a pain in the butt to transport now. Dark Bjoern
I magnetized mine. That give me the option to use four variants. http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x120/DarkBjoern/Knights%20and%20Titans/Ritter%206%20WIP%2001_zpszqznoiqt.jpghttp://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x120/DarkBjoern/Knights%20and%20Titans/Ritter%206%20WIP%2002_zps8vp0axym.jpghttp://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x120/DarkBjoern/Knights%20and%20Titans/Ritter%206%20WIP%2003_zpsdb0whzqd.jpghttp://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x120/DarkBjoern/Knights%20and%20Titans/Ritter%206%20WIP%2004_zpso1xdofvu.jpghttp://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x120/DarkBjoern/Knights%20and%20Titans/Ritter%206%20WIP%2005_zpsb3ie2eho.jpghttp://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x120/DarkBjoern/Knights%20and%20Titans/Ritter%206%20WIP%2006_zpsmgpukckh.jpg Kilofix, Brother Amarel, Darkmagi and 1 other 4 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/308792-magnetizing-an-imperial-knight-question/#findComment-4073645 Share on other sites
Vel'Cona
Smart! If I end up picking up another IK (because the new kit bits are so shiny) I just may steal this idea. Thanks! Evilmerlin
Could you provide more pictures of that magnetic joint? That's really nifty!
