Dealing with a Stompa.... without Dreadknights

I may be dealing with this shortly....

So a local Ork player is including this in his list now 'for fun'.... I thought I would ask you guys what you think of dealing with the Stompa from within our codex, but aside from the Dreadknights.

What do you think my best shot is?

Dreadknights

Oh, and Dreadknights

I suppose Dreadknights would work too, given time

Try Dreadknights as well, can't hurt

;)

Seriously, it's a Super-Heavy walker. If he's bringing that kind of firepower, I'd bring your own Knight-Titan.

Or Dreadknights. Because it's what they do. They kill kings.

I wish.. I'm rebuilding everything.... again. This will be my 3rd Grey Knight army in total. ugh.

So for now I only have one playable new Dreadknight in service of Titan!

Hammerwise... I'm thinking 10 Termies with 2 hammers, combat squad them, give Prescience to the 5 man squad with 2 Psycannons, give sanctuary to the 5 man termie squad with hammers, and prey to the Emperor ?

My own Knight is still in a box. A part of me is thinking of avoiding this unit entirely until I'm forced to deal with it. I faced on in an Apoc game about a month ago, but this is different. At 1850 I assume he can't have a lot left over. We are doing Maelstrom so I'll have that going for me I suppose.

Stompa's only get worse the more you let them do what they want. It has a lot of dakka and your guns do nothing to it.

Like I said, take Dreadknights. One is probably sufficient, Orks are unlikely to kill you at range barring bad armour saves against say Lootaz. I'd take two to be sure though.

Wait, what?

Regarding the stompa: I'd advice a combined arms aproach: You do some damage with Stormravens, a bit with psycannons and thén you can try to kill it maybe in CC with some Hammers. Neither 1 solution is good enough on its own.

This guy only really did it with dreadknights. But rending psycannons did rather well.

Ah I forgot about that... but although I didn't watch it again, I do recall the Ork player had some of the worst rolling luck you could imagine.

It all sold. I set a very high reserve, and thought no one would buy it, but I couldn't yank it off the auction as it had a few bids on it within minutes of hitting ebay.

I have everything back... new, and am trying to build it better. More magnets, a slightly better paint job.... (My first GK army was all metal, that's been gone a while).

So I used a portion of the funding and am starting from scratch. It's almost all put together, with a few holes (I'm lazy). I could kick myself though.

You're one crazy dude Prot... I can't manage to build one army without getting distracted never mind having 3 attempts at it!

Thanks! I've definitely been called worse. :)

I've done a lot of armies and sold them on ebay. Every time I trick myself into believing I can do them better... which is actually rarely the case. I did hesitate to sell this one as it was looking very nice to me, but it went too fast, too many bids and I couldn't pull it off this time.

I have all the models so it's okay. It will probably compete with my Ultra's now though. I love the GK though, historically speaking they just really appeal to me background wise.
