*Furyou Miko
It's a convenient fiction that nobody buys them because they're metal. Nobody bought them when practically the entire Citadel range was metal either. The Dark Eldar aren't really comparable. They were already significantly more popular than Sisters of Battle, despite launching with one of the worst ranges GW have ever produced. The Sisters miniatures were good figures for their day. Still nobody wanted them. Thats funny, because I started this hobby a couple of months after the Sisters were originally released, and do you know why I didn't collect them? I couldn't find a single figure to actually buy. It took me two years of hunting them down to even find a single Seraphim Superior, and that was when I happened to get a chance to go to GWHQ on the way back from a holiday. Sisters didn't sell because they didn't put them on the shelves! Spacefrisian
Gw aplied the same conclusion as Sega had when the Dreamcast didnt sell. Its not selling so there is no demand, however it was not even in stores when you went looking for it (i had very odd looking faces when i asked where they had the Dreamcast stuff). Marketing blindness or something. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/308811-sisters-rumours/page/4/#findComment-4083980 Share on other sites
Warsmith Aznable
I only know why I took so long to get them. First it was because I didn't know they were an army, because they were not on the shelves like the other armies. Then I saw the Witch Hunters codex, and I liked the Sisters but was unsure about whether or not they were actually a current army, and a bit confused by the old format of the codex. Then I saw them on the GW website, but was turned off by the metal only aspect, as well as the higher price. Then I got a few metal bolter Sisters and some Seraphim in a rescue box from a retiring player and loved them. A GW store employee told me they were "right around the corner for a new codex and plastic models" so I bought a Canoness and a few more Sisters to grow my small collection into something useable. That was in 2010. The White Dwarf codex came out, but no plastic Sisters. In fact the few blister packs collecting dust in the odd corners of stores were starting to go, so I bought up the remaining metals in town and started ordering from the GW web store, buying off ebay, and making trades because now I was in and wanted to actually play with what models I did have instead of just look at them on the shelf. Plastic Sisters have been "almost here" for a long time. The metal range has been slowly diminishing in variation and availability every year since I've been playing. Something has to change soon, hopefully for the better. tvih
I just don't know if it's good or bad that I already mostly have the models I want/need. Except I still need the darn Exorcist, at least one of this old type in case it gets replaced. Alas, I already ordered it once from my LGS, but they said they couldn't get it (despite being able to get a few other Sisters figs for me) and I didn't get around to ordering it directly from GW. Now the problem is due to huge cash hemorrhaging for the last 4 weeks or so (and well, even before that), can't afford it right now. Would be typical for me to miss out because they stop selling it :P And of course, likely they'll introduce new unit types and whatnot that require new models. Which is good, but also bad because I'm hesitant to spend more on 40k because I hardly ever have the energy to look for games or even paint/model, for that matter. I've spent at least 4x more than I should've to begin with it as it is. Sororita Katya
I had to eBay scour for an exorcist, I got one finally! They've been out of stock for 8 months in Australia, I would love one more but it is so hard to find them at a decent price after shipping and exchange rate for us :( Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/308811-sisters-rumours/page/4/#findComment-4085066 Share on other sites
Sume
Now I saw the original repentina from the Ordo Herecticus strike force. if any models needs high heels it would be them! I actually liked the idea of the dual pistols, and death seeking. Why not do it in style and with your feet hurting so bad you cant wait to repent lol. Sume
I agree Furyou Miko. I was just making a jest about the high heel picture from the cover of the 2nd book. Brother Inritz
It'd be nice if they finally came out with plastic Sisters. I have always wanted a Sisters army maybe cause all that Gothic stuff moves me as a BA player. It's been my dream to have at least an army from all Imperium rulebooks. I still have to finish Space Wolves but Sisters could be next. I just wish regular sisters were not so dang expensive. tvih
The one downside to plastic Sisters is that then suddenly they'd be everywhere :P Them being kind of a rarity is a part of the appeal, to me anyway. Not that them being common would've stopped me from getting them or anything (seeing as my main army is marines). Slave to Darkness
So, a change is coming and maybe Blanche? Since when does a new codex and models not feature change? When have the Sisters not been like the 2nd Ed stuff, given they haven't changed since? This is meaningless. Inspired by Blanche... Hope that doesn't mean sisters get high heels. hope they do, its a bugger to sculpt killer high heels Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/308811-sisters-rumours/page/4/#findComment-4094378 Share on other sites
Duke Danse Macabre
Well I'm still enjoying them being our little secret, everyone else can go collect marines for all I care. I hate fair weather fans and the people who just need the latest tactical advantage. :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/308811-sisters-rumours/page/4/#findComment-4095947 Share on other sites
Spacefrisian
Gw should make a model that looks like a bandwagon and make it op... they do have a Corpse cart but i doubt that counts as a bandwagon. I do hope more jump on the double Demicompany bandwagon btw, it makes my Emperor's champion look more powerfull. Willy Pete
The main worry I have about a redone codex is that GW will go the same route they did with Chaos Space Marines, Grey Knights and especially Dark Eldar, (all armies that I play, of course :( ). Of course, if they'd go the route of the Space Marines or Eldar, I'd be all for it. But, cynic that I am, I don't think GW has any love for the faction and will weaken rather than strengthen them. After all, we all know how Sisters have been dominating the tournament scene lately. Aqui
After all, we all know how Sisters have been dominating the tournament scene lately. On the Sisters of Battle FB page (closed group), a player came 14th out of 97. A very good achievement I'd say! Edit: Just checked the topic. The player was joint twelfth with two other players, not forteenth. Sororita Katya
Dark Eldar have always been a glass cannon and when played right can barely be beaten. So I don't get why you're saying they're as bad as grey Knights and CSM. Yeah i heard those words before way back (6 years or so, before the overhaul), Tau player said Dark Eldar are weak....and than he got tabled by Dark Eldar..(oh wait the best part was i was playing Dark Eldar). Same fate happened to a Nid player as well, he got tabled in 3 turns cause he was saying it even louder than the Tau player. Lord Commander Scrymgeour
it would be incredible if we ended up with some sisters based of the JB artwork clearly, there'd have to be some weapon standardisation etc. and probably cut down on high heels, but just imagine... Incredible, yes, but not in the good way IMO. Too much bondage fetish and not enough holy warrior. I can't see random exposed boobs anywhere in the current canon except for Slaaneshi daemons and cultists... The current design is very good. It strikes the right balance of baroque, wargear, and church.
