deathstarray
Hi Just wondering if a dreadknight starts off the table so in reserve, can he shunt move the turn he arrives? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/308851-dreadknight-question/ Share on other sites
Darkmagi
I don't believe so as coming onto the board from reserves is a "normal" move. And of course you can't after deep strike. Though I'd think you'd want to move before shunting to get better positioning. ChaoticEric
No, as the deep strike rules say you can't move in the movement phase you're arriving from deep strike and the rules for shunting says it happens in the movement phase, Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/308851-dreadknight-question/#findComment-4074921 Share on other sites
Reclusiarch Darius
It's a bit of a grey area (there is a similar issue of whether you can Shunt Interceptors out of a building or fortification). I think you should just go with the conservative interpretation, which is that coming on from Reserves is a normal move. And obviously you can't Shunt after Deepstriking, because Deepstriking itself 'uses up' your Movement phase. In general, I don't Reserve Dreadknights. Their alpha-strike potential is huge, and you do not want that many points off-table for potentially 2-3 turns. Emicus
Hey mate,I’ve been playing it so as I can’t Shunt after Deep Striking, but you get your NSF detachment run move as normal since Shunt is a move, and you can’t move after Deep Striking! This might be wrong, but it’s how I play it.However it begs the question, why shunt after deep striking? Just deep strike where you want to be :) And since you can’t charge after Deep Striking or Shunting anyway, the D6 run + 12” next round ought to get you where you want to be. Saving the Shunt for a last turn objective cap instead. jeffersonian000
Running in the Shooting phase, Gate is in the Psychic phase, Deep Strike/Shunt are in the Movement phase.
