Mechanicus (adept and dark)

Recommended Posts

Okay so I'm using this thread as a blog of sorts to document my progress on 2 projects that I'm working on simultaneously, an Adeptus Mechanicus force and it's Dark counterpart.

So first up is my Arch-Heretek. I was wanting a female Magos to lead my force. I started work on one but didn't like how she turned out so I decided to practice sculpting robes on what I thought was a dud. Then while playing about with it I thought why not salvage the mini and use it as a starting point for a Dark Mechanicus force to mirror the Admech one.

So forgive the poor camera phone pics.

you should get one of these!

http://www.greenstuffindustries.com/store/p1/Tentacle_Maker_Tool_Box_v2.html

they will help a lot when making mechanicus figures! I really like what you've done so far, aside from the breathing tubes which are incredibly hard to get to sit right when using plasticard (i know), hence i suggest you check out the tenctale maker tool to revise the ones you've got at the moment. aside from that i really like how she looks! the face if great!

Yeah I ust placed an order for one. Plasticard is a pain and wire is costly. I've just started work on her Loyalist counterpart so It should be easier once I have the tentacle maker. Besides you can afford to be a little sloppy with Chaos :P

Thanks for the feedback.

Very early W.I.P of my Archmagos/Techpriest Dominus (domina?).I'm mounting her on a 40mm base just so I can use her in HH and to fit her on an abeyant that I plan to build, now I know the TPD for CM is on a 50mm base and to get round that I basically have a 50mm base with a 40mm hole to slot the model into thanks to a few suggestions on here ;)

Great conversion and sculpting work on this models!  I like the concept you're going for, though I'm curious as to what sort of paint scheme you had in mind?

Well I'm almost finished painting the heretek. I'm doing her armour bronze/gold and cloth dark red. or the darkmech troops I'll paint their armour gunmetal with sickly green/yellow cloth and for elite units I'll give them either red armour (no cloth) or just paint them as Iron warriors.

I haven't decided what colour scheme I want or my main Admech force but the Archmagos will get black and red robes with bronze/gold armour. I had a look through the cult mech codex and I don't really like any of the official factions. So until I get some admech units I want to finish building my Magos and painting up some chaos cultists.

The main difference that I want between the paint schemes in the lights/sensors,green for traitor, blue for loyalist :)

And my Arch Heretek is now tabletop worthy smile.png. Still a few little touch up and details to do here and there but she's 99% finished, sealed and ready to lead an army of dark adepts, cultists, daemon engines, AI and everything in between! tongue.png

Again sorry for the terrible phone pics, none of them do her justice. or a project that I considered failed I'm glad I salvaged it because I'm more than happy with the result and I'm excited to see where this takes me next.

Great stuff!  It's a very original conversion and I always like seeing more Dark Mechanicus (gives my fellow Tech-Priests more arcano-heresy to purge, after all)!

With that said, why did you consider this a failed project until now?

Well I considered the project failed as what I imagined for my ArchMagos just didn't work. It didn't look right. So I started playing around with it, kind of just playing with it a little while I waited for paint to dry. If I took pics of the project I considered failed you would see what I mean.

Yeah I've ordered several bits on Ebay to help finish her loyalist counterpart (they're the same character pretty much). I know exactly where I'm going with her. I'm aiming for a cross between FW's Magos Dominus and GW's Tech-priest Dominus.

Think I might go back over the tendrils with a hairdryer. She looks a little too much like a spider crab the way the top 2 are spread out.
