The "WAAC" discussion

Lot’s of good discussion and opinions about “WAAC” in the Know Thy Foe thread but sadly off topic. Bringing it here so people can have their say, and also make a thread we can link to in the future since the topic seems to pop up quite a bit.

=====================================================================

I reckon the big thing with “WAAC” that I feel most people miss, and rather focus on the “but everyone wants to win part” is the win at ALL COSTS. The detriment of the game, the detriment of fun, the community, etc. It’s the sum of everything that is bad :(

Examples:
I’m going to :cuss my opponent raw, because I think it is fun.

I’m going to try and game the system

I’m cheating

I disregard the context to my benefit

That the term is wrongfully applied to a whole host of people and situations where it shouldn’t be, that’s a whole other argument! But the whole WAAC thing is a perfectly legit term.

If you show up to a fluff game with your tournament list, on purpose, and do it because “you want to crush your opponent so he doesn’t want to play ever again because that power trip turns you on” you’re a dick and a waac’er.

You’re the same if you’re purposefully trying to game the system by interpreting rules in such fanciful ways you should drop Warhammer and become a defence lawyer instead, but only to your own benefit of course. The same logic you use never applies to your opponent.

*Disclaimer: the use of words such as “you”, “your” and similar refers to a fictive person and not in any way, shape or form to either you as a person, entity, figure, character, personae, anyone you know, have ever met or thought about or that in fact actually exists, in real life, fictively or otherwise.*

I really don't know the point of this conversation here. And my gut reaction was to close this topic immediately before the arguments started.

I'm putting this out here right now... if this conversation veers into ugliness it's getting closed very quickly.
