The Luminagen Effect - When?

Recommended Posts

Kinda cross-posted from the Dominus thread, but when you fire with phosphor weapons when do you apply the Luminagen effect?

See, now this is something that I think crops up a lot and needs a FAQ. The BRB specifically states that all shooting done by a unit/model happens at the same time so technically the unit firing the phosphor weapon doesn't get the benefit of the -1 to cover. All shots are fired at the same time so at the point of opening fire the target isn't affected by the Luminagen special rule. "...until the end of the phase." implies that the effect is applied after shooting has been resolved.

(BRB, Shooting Phase, Selecting A Weapon section: "All of the models in the unit that are firing the selected weapon shoot at the same time, regardless of whether or not all of the dice are rolled together."

I expect that most Ad Mech players will argue against this though?

Read the quoted text again. All models firing the selected weapon shoot at the same time. Not all shooting from that unit.

You resolve one weapon at a time. If any Luminagen wounds get through, subsequent weapons in that unit will benefit from it.

It's applied by an unsaved wound, so the initial weapon itself doesn't benefit, but if you have several Luminagen-applying weapon types in the unit (e.g. a phosphor serpenta and heavy phosphor blasters), subsequent ones would benefit from wounds inflicted by the first.

Actually aye, I think you guys are right.  This is what happens when you try to think stuff over after being up until 2am painting Dragoons & Electro-Priests and then getting up at 7am for work :'(

I'll leave this here for a while to see if anyone else wants to contribute and then I'll bin it if not.
