BlodVargarna
Where can one find chains words without the hand pre-modeled to the handle? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/309087-chain-sword-without-a-hand-modeled-on-it/ Share on other sites
Peredyne
The Forge World Space Marine Assault Squads come with chainswords and bolt pistols with separate hands. Victoria Miniatures has a Chainsword pack, but they are scaled for Astra Militarum/Imperial Guard. Your best bet would be to cut the hand off of a chainsword and rebuild the hilt with plastic or brass rod. ShinyRhino
The only other option is to find some of the old Second/Third Edition melee weapon sprues. They had a series of pistols, a chainsword, and a powerfist on them. The chainsword had no hand attached, and you had to cut out the handle from between the handguard and slot in the Marine's fist. The trick would be finding one though. They get snapped up any time they show up for sale on "that big, popular auction site." Durus
If you wrap a rod with wire it looks like a handle. Cut off the hand from the sword, take the pommel off the bit and put it on the end of the rod or use some other doodad from your bitsbox as pommel. Of course you can also just use any handle from any sword bit that you might have in your bitsbox as well. BlodVargarna
Thinking about grabbing some of those Victoria miniature chainswords. Anyone use them on marines or do they look too small? I'm planning on perhaps magnetizing or straight up gluing to the backpacks on my Grey Hunters. So if they aren't held in hand, I wonder if small er size is an issue. Thoughts? Graymane
Its not the size of the weapon, but what you do with it that counts. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/309087-chain-sword-without-a-hand-modeled-on-it/#findComment-4084381 Share on other sites

They should be ok, perhaps a bit thin tooth-to-back. This blogger does a huge, in-depth comparison of the Victoria models against various others: http://macharianthunderguard.blogspot.com/2012/10/victoria-miniatures-vs-curious.html You can probably extrapolate the size from this comparison: http://themarienburggazette.blogspot.com/2014/03/victoria-miniatures-arcadian-rifles.html Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/309087-chain-sword-without-a-hand-modeled-on-it/#findComment-4084535 Share on other sites
