apologist
I thought I'd post up a thread for us to discuss those little bits in the Age of Darkness background that made you smile. Reading through Tempest, there's a reference to the Desert Lions – a Chapter that turned up for a tiny bit of colour text way back in White Dwarf #104 – as one of the nicknames for an Ultramarines Chapter. A nice way to neatly tie off a very old bit of background and make it relevant again :) I'm sure there's lots more similar references through the series – what little bits have caught your eye? BFeeder
I particularly liked the little references to some of their old boxed games: There's a planet called Angelis in the galactic map of the Imperium - this is where Gorkamorka takes place. Port Maw in Conquest - a lot of stuff happens here in Battlefleet Gothic. Imperial Fists Exemplary Battles in Extermination - A literal nod to Necromunda, but it was pretty damn awesome when I read it for the first time. Reyner
The Ultramarines 4th Chapter being named the Aurorans :D The coolest of the Successor Chapters with their heavy armour fetish and great colour scheme. Fire Golem
I like that they referenced the old Badab War Salamanders black and yellow scheme in Massacre. Stofficus
Some of the "easter eggs" are in the rules themselves - The provenances of war for the Imperial Militia basically allow you to create Rogue Trader era Marines - controlled by drugs, not genetically engineered, running around in old-school Land Raiders.
