Plaguecaster
Sorry if this doesn't go here but I found this AUS site http://www.battlegrouphelios.com/index.php/store which seems to sell resin BFG style ship minatures and to be honest they actually look quite good this is their Helian Dreadnought which looks exactly like a imperial battle ship http://www.battlegrouphelios.com/images/Products/000001a.jpg I don't suppose there is anyone on this site who has dealt with them as I am highly tempted to get a few for my own BFG fleet. Also with comparisons in size here are the sizes for their main ships was wondering what the comparisons is compared to the actual BFG models. The escort models are 51mm long x 20mm wide x 19mm tall while the battleship class are 110mm long x 40mm wide x 35mm tall Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/309418-possible-bfg-alternative/ Share on other sites
Lucien Eilam
Check out the recent end of this BFG thread: http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/248352-new-to-battlefleet-gothic/page-11 Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/309418-possible-bfg-alternative/#findComment-4089936 Share on other sites
Teetengee
It even has the icon of the lightning bearers on the front.... hehe. They sound a little big though (although that isn't necessarily a problem for bfg in the way it is for 40k. Urauloth
That looks absolutely perfect for a heresy-era ship. It's not as baroque as a 41st millennium battleship, it has cleaner lines and a slightly more functional look (it's a starship, not a flying cathedral) and it has the huge observatory we've read about as features of various great crusade ships in several BL novels. Only thing I don't like is the protruding rounded-off section with the tech stuff in it towards the aft - looks a little tau-ish, maybe even a little star-warsey. Wouldn't be hard to modify, though, I don't imagine. Oh, and it needs a ram. Dono1979
They sound a little big though (although that isn't necessarily a problem for bfg in the way it is for 40k. The Dreadnoughts and Firedrakes are slightly larger than an Imperial Navy Cruiser from BFG, they would make ideal Battlecruisers or Grandcruisers when mixed with original BFG stuff. Or, as you say, size isnt really an issue in BFG (its base size) so if you were starting a new fleet you could more than easily use them as standard Cruisers. The escorts are also fantastic substitutes for existing options as well. Urauloth
The escorts have really nice prows, but those engine assemblies... they're absolutely huge. It distends the outline of the ship in a really weird way if what you're expecting is something along the lines of a Gladius or a Sword (which it kind of is, given the front half) and I can't help thinking it's looking for a suitable debris belt or nebula in which to give birth to dozens of tiny baby frigatelings.
