Bending the New C:SM to our use

Consider the following:

#1. In the new C:SM it states that if you have two models with different Chapter Tactics in the same unit, the unit benefits from neither.  Thus you can't throw a Raven Guard Captain in a unit of White Scars Terminators and still get their Chapter Tactics rules.

#2.  We, Blood Angels, do not have a Chapter Tactic as such.  We have the special rule 'Furious Charge' on all our units, not Chapter Tactics Blood Angels..  We are also not 'Space Marines' Faction, we are 'Blood Angels' Faction.

#3.  Hit and Run states that if one model in the unit has the rule, the whole unit can use it to leave combat if they wish.

Take the Librarius Conclave from C:SM.  Take the White Scars Chapter Tactic.  Join a Librarian to say...each of your Death Company.  Suddenly your DC, or Bikes, or Terminators have Hit & Run.  +1 I on the charge, Furious Charge, & Hit and Run Death Company.

Also, Shrike, as currently worded, can be used to Infiltrate Sang Guard.

If Land Speeder Storm can be purchased as fast attack (thought i read it somewhere) it will be tempting to buy some for our furious charge scouts smile.png

Edit: Probably won't be allowed to Infiltrate with it as it's not a dedicated transport :(

This in conjunction with the Strike Force Mortalis Formation would be so awesome!

Was thinking that, it's all nicely self contained too!  Only problem is no +1I!

But the extra swinging you get makes up for it!

Not quite as cool as all of your uber crunch combinations, but I was told (though did not see the rule myself) at my club that ALL Codex: SM Scouts are now BS4. Is that true?

...and more importantly, how does that affect BA Scouts? CCW now the clear choice over sniper rifles? Is it safe to speculate that BA will either get an updated Codex soon or a FAQ that states since BA Scouts are your typical "average" Scouts, they will be BS4 as well?

That and the fact that all SM Tanks can be squadroned seems like a HUGE disadvantage for us if we play as-written with our current Codex.

To keep it positive, I know my club is great with these kinds of changes and has a RAI attitude overall.

You cant charge from it if it infiltrates anyway, so having the additional move may help.

I'm more looking at Stormtalons to escort on the ravens.

around 200pts is a librarian and 2 min sized tac squads, or less if you go with marine scouts. Then load up on storms.

That's brilliant, Bonzi! You literally made my day!

And what if we use Raven guard CT while our BA warlord with the Veritas Vitae rolls for a strategic trait - master of ambush (infiltrate for 3 units)? Then we can infiltrate 3 squads of DC with jump packs. All squads will have shrouded and if you put them in ruins then it's 2+ cover save. Add to that higher possibility to get night fight. What do guys you think?

Not quite, as you would have to give both the librarian the infiltrate rule, and the death co the infiltrate rule to be able to infiltrate them together.

You also cannot charge T1 if you infiltrate, so they're better off deploying normally board.

Oh, you're right. Didn't think this through.

Still, while deployed normally they will have at least 5+ cover save (or 4+ in night fight against some armies) which is quite nice for boosting their T1 survivability. Maybe could be useful in blood rodeo.

Iron hands with sanguinary priests for 4+ FnP everywhere! biggrin.png

How does that work? Sanguinary Priests only give FNP to the units they are with.

I think he was exaggerating for dramatic effect msn-wink.gif

A little bit ^^ but with 2 sanguinary priests and an Iron Hands command squad you have 3 squads with 4+ FnP. Stick something with 2+ armor in front (like a chapter master!) and this will become very hard to crack.

Would also be very fluffy to have the leaders in Terminator Armour.

Shame we lost that ability for priests, although a sufficiently Bionic dude would look cool!

  • 2 weeks later...

Didnt see this yet, but (and I stand to be corrected here) the Gladius seems to work a little differently from the Decurion-  in that it does not appear that we may take any of the datasheets listed outside of the Gladius Strike force detachment.  Only within it.

That severely limits these options.

More than happy to be shown otherwise though?
