depthcharge12
Has anyone run him in a WB or Daemon army in the heresy? I think he's heavily pointed for what he does but I think his Born of Murder rule is pretty cool and his armorbane ID knife can be deadly. In Heresy games, his halved leadership for units in cc with him can be a game changer since Fearless is sparse within 30k. Even units that aren't affected by fear due to their legion rules still have theirs halved because it's for all units that aren't Fearless or Stubborn. He lacks mobility, but he's meant to deep strike right into enemy lines, and if he can, try to survive the impending fire. He does have an issue with survivability too. What are your guys' ideas/experiences/etc.? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/309481-thoughts-on-samus/ Share on other sites
1ncarnadine
Haven't played him yet, but he looks like a high risk/high reward choice. There are a lot of Paragon Blades out there and Primarchs with instant death weapons and he doesn't have Eternal Warrior, plus an awful save. OTOH he has the potential to wipe out dangerous units really quickly if you actually pull off the charge, with ridiculous initiative, a high number of attacks and AP2. If he manages to get into a terminator unit or something it looks like he can actually start to make his points back. I remember toying around with the idea of using a Navigator with a Phase Walker with Samus. He can phase-walk somewhere, fry a unit with the Lidless Stare, and since he will then almost definitely die he becomes a marker for Samus's Born from Murder arrival. Can't remember if it turned out that was totally legal or not, might be worth checking. Prodigal Son of Magnus
I don't like him. He doesn't have An armor save or wings and costs as much as a Knight and has to be deployed in a silly maner. Any one of these things would be a killer in a competative list but all 3 is to much for even casual. Give me a Knight any day. Wolf Lord Loki
Well the issues with survivability are in keeping with the fluff... If you recall he's had two appearances in the heresy so far and after the initial shock of his arrival has worn off he's been banished with extreme prejudice!!! ;-) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/309481-thoughts-on-samus/#findComment-4091413 Share on other sites
TheForgottenAngel
You play Samus because he's Samus. He's extremely fluffy, the rules are interesting and for HH be can wreck must everything, especially if he wins combat. He doesn't need to wipe a unit as long as he wins combat. With very little fearless I think he's a great asset. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/309481-thoughts-on-samus/#findComment-4091432 Share on other sites
Prodigal Son of Magnus
He isnt going to get to combat, and if he does it will be one of the opponent's choosing. depthcharge12
I do think that he should be dropped down to at least 250 points if not lower, and definitely not be a Lord of War. He doesn't have wings or a way of being mobile enough, and his save is garbage. You could get a winged Bloodthirster with a D weapon and wings for much less point wise (100 points less IIRC). shandwen
They probably should have given him movement like a jumppack unit, but he can crush most other units in close combat, and will laugh at a tactical block once in cc. Aspiringchaoschampion
It's getting him to cc that will be hard though. The only way I could see you reasonably getting him there is to take a herald of tzeench on disc with some screamers. Give him the grime and hope you roll cursed earth up Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/309481-thoughts-on-samus/#findComment-4092411 Share on other sites
