Your legion

Recommended Posts

The old IV Legion, Pre-Primarch, had the most potential as the 'generic' Legion. Simply put, they were workhorses, worked well with mortals, and followed the mission to the letter.

They worked so well with mortals that said mortals called them "Corpse Grinders" and feared being deployed with them.

Lol, I meant mortal command structure. It makes mention in the book that the IV Legion would willingly subsume their company under Imperial Command outside of the Legion, which is pretty crazy for Transhumans.

But no, ya never want to be a grunt alongside IV Legion warriors, even back in the day when they were easy to work with. They're still IV Legion, and you're still just a tool to them, until after the battle. Then, if you're lucky, you're ignored. If you're not, you get selected for the next trench raid.

Adios, amigo.

That's why I love the Iron Warriors. They are the perfect soldiers: efficency, iron will, iron heart:

No fancy tricks, no respite, no retreat, no mercy.

Everyone needs a few fancy tricks! :D

And who maintains the big guns, who produces the ammo for it, the parts that let's it fire, who maintains the the machine spirit of the weapon, who maintians the servitors who work the targeting systems. The big cogs only turn with the help of the little cogs.

Iron neeeds flesh.

I once stood, clad in midnight, a son of my doomed father. Born of Terror, I lorded over the night with a red right hand.

I was a Raven of the Xeric, fated to die at Terra. I fought Xenos and Traitor, but in the end, a former brother struck me down.

I called myself a Bearer of the Word, a loyal son of Lorgar. But hubris defeated me, and the shame of failure.

What am I now?

I am a War Hound, His white hand of Death.

For the Glory of the Twelfth Legion! Victory to the Sons of Terra! Not for us those unholy Nails, not for us a broken Father. We are the ancient, the bloody, the pure.

Hail! Hail! Hail!

Because with out tricks, you cant possibly have as much swagger as the Ultras or luna wolves! They are the pretty boys for a reason! :)

I don't need swagger. Or honors. Or respect. Or pretty toys.

Put me in plain and easy to repair plate; give me a bolter, stripped to it's rudiments. A sharpened entrenching tool and gladius for trench work; and a cluster of scavenged grenades and bangalores for battlefield engineering, and I'll give you a world, somewhat intact.

Keep your shineys. You need them more than the IV Legion does. :P

No one will more you, no one will celebrate, I'll just move on.

The the IV and XIX Legions actually have something in common then, cousin...

Damn my typo. I love that pic btw.

The difference between the IV and the XIX is that when it came to it, at the point you were stretched to the limit, you decided you had enough, you decided to break your oaths in a childish tantrum, to cross the Rubicon with a mad dictator and his pet gods. 8 Legions brought down hell on the XIX, and we just picked our selfs up and carried on. Iron breaks. Shadows will always remain.

Would like to say, a friend emailed FW and they confirmed that spiked shoulder pads are on their list of things to do, and seeing as Ventanus has them in that piece of artwork, and the Mark of Calth artwork hopefully we will get them soon.

You mean there making spiked pads for normal astartes? Damn, that was one feature that made Ventanus unique.

You're seeing the entire width of the cable in the drawing, but because it's starting to fade away, I think it gives the illusion that it's much wider than it appears to be. It looks perfectly in scale with the normal Mk IV cabling to me, and I can't imagine any reason why a Captain would want or need wider power cables.

I think this is still in my head

I guess i just think his cables are always bigger.

The cables might be more of an artists choice. I would say Ventanus is clad in MK IV.

And back on topic: Who needs shadows? You are an astartes, you are the living image of the Imperiums glory, you need to stand tall and proud while your bolter sings its terrifying war cry.
