ogres_lair
Morning, I just finished a Tech Priest Dominus. I wanted to to paint something a little different for a change of pace. http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w308/ogre_99_99/Mechanicus/2015-06-19%2003.21.53_zpsihsvzieb.jpg http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w308/ogre_99_99/Mechanicus/2015-06-19%2003.21.46_zpsgpsjtvcz.jpg http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w308/ogre_99_99/Mechanicus/2015-06-19%2003.21.38_zpsy7ibwlvy.jpg http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w308/ogre_99_99/Mechanicus/2015-06-19%2003.20.27_zpspdprdyr1.jpg http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w308/ogre_99_99/Mechanicus/2015-06-19%2003.20.34_zpsezquuboo.jpg http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w308/ogre_99_99/Mechanicus/2015-06-19%2003.21.26_zpsyqqfx692.jpg http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w308/ogre_99_99/Mechanicus/2015-06-19%2003.20.11_zpspw1q5itv.jpg http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w308/ogre_99_99/Mechanicus/2015-06-19%2003.20.19_zpskg86rj19.jpg The Base might need a little something else, and I may add a few Bright silver highlights, but I kinda like the grimy look. So what do ya'll think, I am getting a bit of a Dark Mechanicus vibe though... MosesGunn
Great work. Looks suitably sinister. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/309631-tech-priest-dominus/#findComment-4094892 Share on other sites
BrokenRecord
What paints did you use for the robe? I'm aiming for a similar color for my Tech-priest's robe, but have almost no experience painting anything along the grey-scale! Thanks! Dom_
Wow! With those colours it looks like something right out of BioShock. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/309631-tech-priest-dominus/#findComment-4103147 Share on other sites
ogres_lair
Thanks for the replies, I may just have to pick up something else and continue this scheme out. The robes are easy. It is a technique I picked up from http://www.the-vanus-temple.com/ I basecoat with Vallejo Game Ghostly Grey Then a wash of Army painter Dark Tone (the little bottle, not the can) Then a wash of Army painter Strong tone (bottle) THen a wash of Army painter Dark Tone (bottle) Then a final wash of Army Painter Dark Tone (bottle) During the wash you want a nice coat, just try not to let it pool to much in any one area. You can stop there and the black will look great, but to add some grittiness I did a final wash of the Army Painter Zombie Shader to the entire model. You can most likely use any light grey as the base coat, The ghostly grey, just matches the primer I like pretty well. It also does a great job on black power armour. http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w308/ogre_99_99/Blood%20Angels/100_1367.jpg I will warn you it does look a little funky till you put the last wash on, and If you want darker you can just keep adding wash. later, ogre Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/309631-tech-priest-dominus/#findComment-4103364 Share on other sites
