Thorv88
hiya guys. Has anyone got a decent idea what a reasonably competitive but fluffy stone gauntlet list is. Maybe around 2500 points? I definitely will be using Polux so anything else would be awesome. I have two Phalanx Squads waiting to go :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/309717-stone-gauntlet/ Share on other sites
Dono1979
Could be an expensive one with two Phalanx and two Breachers, but you could just play them as Breachers. I play around with the Stone Gauntlet quite a lot, but I play in a less than competitive environment so taking a less than optimsed less can be a little more forgiving. One which I ran last weekend and was a complete blast to play: Alexis Polux (Stone Gauntlet) 2 x Apothecaries w/ Artificer armour and Auguries 2 x 15 man Breachers w/ Nuncio and 3 meltas/volkites Vindicator w/ Laser Array Scorpius Aegis Defense Lines w/ Ammo Dump Magos Prime w/ various upgrades (I run him as the flesh master one) 10 x Tech Thralls 9 x Thallax w/ Destructor and Photon Thrusters 9 x Thallax w/ Icarian and Plasma Fusils The general idea was to let one of the Breacher squads hunker down behind the Aegis line with the Ammo dump which allows them to reroll 1's to hit with shooting, making their Bolters Twin Linked (BS5 hits on 2's) and their special weapons a little more reliable. The Apothecaries in both squads give the units an anti deep strike bubble with the Auguries and Feel No Pain on everything except for S10 weaponary. Polux can choose which one to jump into. The Magos I had equipped up with the Machinator Array, Corposcent Staff (Haywire Melee attacks), Rad Grenades and a Cyber familiar (for a 3++). He allowed me to bring in some high mobility and Deep Striking Thallax and the Thralls were running around because I think they are cool and I like the models I use for them. The entire army is Toughness 5 (apart from the Thralls) with a form of Feel No Pain. The Nuncio's allow the Thallax to come down for some close support if needed, shoot and then Assault Move away. The two vehicles will draw a bit of fire being the only AV in the army, but with the Nuncio's you can bury the Scorpius out of line of sight and still bring in accurate barrages, while you are aiming on using the Vindicator early to eliminate the biggest threat with overcharged S9 AP1 TL shots. To trim the army up and make it more efficient you can certainly remove the Thralls, drop a few gimicky things form the Magos and what not.
