Night Lords question

Recommended Posts

They didn't all have it, from what I can see in Massacre. Most did, but then most only did on certain armour plates. According to Massacre they weren't painted on, they actually had lighting generators under the armour. So if the armour was damaged, the lighting might go.

As to the second point, I'm not sure what you mean. They basically looked identical to modern day Night Lords, but as to other CSM, they looked pretty brutal I guess?

What I mean is a lot of csm models have spikes/horns on I'm guessing night Lords would use something similar 30k era to cause terror

Nah they seem a bit more... Not subtle, but there's no horned helmets or anything. A lot of them have skulls painted on, some have actual skulls on their helmets, and the Night Raptors and Sevatar have the bat wings. I mean you'd get away with using them probably, as terror markings and such, but there's not really examples of it. They have things like bundles of bones, bits of skin and flesh, flayed bodies and heads on their tanks/dreads etc as opposed to the spikes and horns.

Ah ok could always fluff it as it's specific to my company who like to scare the hell out of the enemy by making them think they are pure evil incarnate

The art direction FW has gone with doesn't have them with spikes or horns so much. That seems to be something that came from residing in the Eye of Terror/Maelstrom for many of the Legions, although the Word Bearers are already starting to trend that way as of Calth which is pretty early.

That being said, I don't see anything wrong with using those parts if it helps you put together a 30k army and start gaming. If it's breaking your immersion a bit and you still want to stick to a budget, consider just picking up 2-3 packs of the Night Lords helmet set that FW offers and sprinkle them around your force instead of the horned helmets?

I was only going to use horned helms for characters anyway or special units ie terminators and night raptors. I have quite a few marines with either top knots or just regular marine helmets

Yeah I mean I'm not saying you can't do it or they definitely didn't, just that there isn't really examples of it in the FW art or models. But legions are big, you can justify it easy.

What is that the cover of?

It's from The Long Night, the audio where Sevatar is trapped in a Dark Angels cell and is going a bit loony. I don't remember if Sheng himself is in that one. Pretty sure he's featured in Savage Weapons, but the cover of TLN matches his description.

Sounds like you've got a good idea for where you're going, and as long as you're fine with it that's all that matters smile.png
