FW Heresy Dark Angels rumor?!?!

Recommended Posts

So one of our frater was kind enough to bring this to our attention in the news section:

via Formosa @ DakkaDakka

This is the first rumour I'm happy to go on the tracker about, I spoke to my mate whom works at forge world (in a prominent well known position) and the person has informed me that dark angels are now being worked on, they have had a brief about how they want the dark angels to behave, and are hashing out the pre lion el jonson fluff, this ive been told will be more extensive than any of the other pre primarch fluff as I was told it is key to the events that happen during and after the heresy, I asked what units to expect and they stated that nothing solid has been nailed down just yet, but throwing around names such as deathwing paladins, doom knights (not a clue what this could be) and several others, I personally don't know how long development takes bit this is exciting to me.

Them doom knights and Paladins tho.

It's likely Dread Knights than Doom Knights.

Dark Angels have a definite schism between the Terran veterans (these guys fought from the beginning, Astelan falls here) and the younger Calibanite dark angels. This is what is going to be delved into along with early campaigns the 1st Legion took part in. Expect lots of esoteric weaponry

Once work on a Legion begins it'll be after the next book. So Dark Angels, are a way off. If you can connect the dots, it looks to be a Thramas Crusade combo book with the other side events.

I wonder if there'll be two lists for the venerable I Legion: One for the 'Loyalists' and one for the 'Traitors'? Or will they provide enough options and grey areas within the LA: Dark Angels rules & characters to allow for both flavours?

Either way, I look forward to the results.

The only things I pulled out of Unremembered Empire that didn't put me to sleep was Narik of the Word, and Guilliman watching the I Legion do their Uber Drill and Ceremony bit while thinking of their ancient history.

If Guilliman isn't pulling our leg, the I Legion had a huge part in the Unification of Terra and Sol. As Flint would say, I'm totes excited.

Totes.

What I heard, is we have a crap-ton of info on the Unification Wars inbound.

Hells yes.

I don't like the Dark Angels (that will probably change when I read FWs take on them...) but I am looking forward to reading about the very early history of the Legiones Astartes.

ERMERGERD.

The VI and XV will not be made by FW, the way they were made by BL.

Please don't get the 'mary sue' argument started again, because we are all going to eat any words said later on, when Prospero hits.

Instead, enjoy the little stuff... Like the thought of thousands of hardcore Space Wolf fans, buying a book with the comprehensive re-born story and rules of the Thousands Sons.

Didn't mean to steer the thread in that direction. Just pointing out that things change and FW obviously won't release something just to have it out "on schedule". They will push it back rather than release something sub par. I have great respect for them for it.

If the First Legion come across complications we may still have a long wait.

I'd expect a hell of a lot on the Unification Wars given that there weren't twenty legions made from scratch that were raised and then sent out to conquer the galaxy. As Gulliman muses in UE, the I were alone for a long time and had fought wars none of the others had heard of let alone been a part of. There should be loads of information on the basic formation of a Legion as well given that the Dark Angels were the first to go through the process.

I like they are making the schism with Caliban tied to the Dark Angels who have been around since unification. It makes sense if you think about it. A core of veterans who don't take to the Primarch and never will, in spite of the built in genetic coding. It's guys who've seen the galaxy at it's worst and don't take kindly to some blonde dude showing up and telling everyone who they are and how they will act now.

I would quite look forward to seeing how the Dark Angels are portrayed in the 30K setting.

When I first got into 40K (Sppace Hulk & the Deathwing supplement) they were one of the chapters I liked, but I sort of fell out of love with...

I thimk T-Sons will get a lot more love than the Wolves... IA11, all they had to do was make 1 SW model and they couldnt even be bothered to do that. Hope they prove me wrong though.

If this comes true, and it was the sons of Terra that broke Caliban....

I'm...I'm highly doubtful I'll be able to resist.... ermm.gif
