Frater Cornelius
My work has progressed on the basic infantry of the Knight House, but I am now somewhat stuck on some of the more advanced units. 1) The Land Raider. It was decreed that only SM may use those. How would I convert that AV14 hull to make it recognizable, but different 2) Drop Pods. They are hazardous to use by non-SM. Are the safer alternatives with the same effect and size? 3) Terminator Armour. I need knights that look bigger and bulkier than regular plated ones, but still somewhat divergent from regular TDA. I was thinking to reduce the back section in size to make the head the highest point of the model and not the armour. Any ideas? Much appreciated ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/309939-knightly-conversions/ Share on other sites
Kilofix
Technically Mechanicus and Inquisition also have Land Raiders, even though some fluff says SM only (SMs just like to 'think' they're special). CommodusXIII
Your requirements for TDA sound a lot like Grey Knight Terminator Armor. It just so happens that they look Knightly, too. Kilofix
Also, Knight worlds are ancient, they may have been stewards to some long lost STC. Frater Cornelius
I suppose horse trading with the AdMech sounds like something that could get them a LR. Seeing as I currently have no other idea, let us go with that for now. As for the TDA, yes, the GK are a step into the right direction. However, I am using DW TDA as a base seeing as they will become DW Knights. GK TDA backpacks is not something people tend to have lying around and buying a GK box just for that seems a bit steep. Maybe I can work on the DW model to make them look akin? Vel'Cona
Hey, if you just need bits there are plenty of retailers for that, Immersturm. Try the bits distributors on Ebay, you'd be surprised the variety available! WarriorFish
Kilo has a good point, even if you discounted trades/gifts with the AdMech the Knights are from the ancient days when Land Raiders had no restrictions so they could still have some :) GK would be a good use as well, quite different and more knightly in appearance for it so I'm sure with some conversion work they can look distinct. jeffersonian000
Back before Knights were a thing, you know, like more than a year ago, the fan base had been running DIY Knight rules for literally decades, with the most reasonable based on a walking Leman Russ, or the vastly overpriced WD article Knight (500ptd for a walking Leman Russ?!?! golly gee?). This lead to many of us grabbing on to the new 5th Ed GK codex, with its "Dread" Knights, as an excellent counts-as AdMech army. It had Monstrous Creature "Knights", Dreadnought "Robots", Techmarine "Priests", Land Raider "Crawls", TDA "Cataphract Skitarii", PA "Skitarii", and Psychic power "Noospheric Tech". Even the Inquisition units had servitors, Tech Guard, "Electro" Cultists, etc. it was perfect for scratch building and proxy. You can find a number of AdMech armies base on thus codex, or the Daemon codex. So, long story short, yep, GK work great as a stand in for an RT era AdMech army. Frater Cornelius
Okay, I am convinced on the Land Raider issue. The plan thus far is to use Demi Gryph Knights as my Black Knights. SM will be done from a mix of Chaos Warrior Plates, SM limbs and Bretonian Knight heads (sans the feathers) to have the classic Crusader looks. Frater Cornelius
http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/310132-age-of-sigmar-release-40k-conversion-gold/?p=4103982 Eh.... I might want to wait a tad with my conversions. I mean, Demi Gryphs are pretty set in stone, but some of those guys made very decent Marines. Especially since it really captures the holy theme I am going after. Frater Cornelius
Today, I held the Age of Sigmar models in hand. Specifically, the Sigmarites. I even built some of them myself to help the store owner. Verdict? Wow. Wooow. They are so awesome, that I have no words to describe them. I definitely know, how I build my HQs now. DevineKnight
I am looking for advice to build a She Who Thirsts (Slaanesh) fallen House. There is a fluff house who fell: House Devine. I want to model them as half ish warp beasts loyal to slaanesh Any ideas? Also two related questions what animal is Slaanesh now? (It used to be the bull, but there are too many khorne deamonkin bull themed for that to be true) and what is the most Slaaneshi melee weapon? CommodusXIII
Slaanesh seems to trend more towards aquatic animals these days. The first two animals that come to mind are the seahorse (Fiends) and the manta ray (Seekers). The Cerastus pattern would be excellent to work with, as Slaanesh also trends towards nimble forms rather than the brute strength of Khorne. As for weaponry - whips, spears and rapiers. Kilofix
Devine was clearly a Snake based. But as Commodus says - aquatic stuff. Like pincer claws. walter h 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/309939-knightly-conversions/#findComment-4117460 Share on other sites
